Wingstop Adds a New Wing Flavor PLUS an All New Sprite Flavor

It’s citrus season, baby – and Wingstop is getting involved. The fast food chain has had a relatively quiet start to the year in comparison to others: While competitors like Buffalo Wild Wings have been introducing new sauces and churning out protein-filled Espresso Martinis, Wingstop has been taking things a little more slowly. Now, though, it’s diving headfirst into the game, with a new Sprite flavor that sounds pretty cool, if (and we’re saying it very quietly) a little one-note.

Plus, it’s got a new wing flavor that it hopes is destined to be a summer smash. Here are the two items it’s bringing to its menu.

Wingstop Sprite Loco Lime

First off, let’s talk about this new Sprite flavor. Wingstop’s Sprite Loco Lime is taking the citrus notes of classic Sprite and applying even more citrus. In each cup, you get a mixture of Sprite, Fanta Lime, and Minute Maid Limeade. Sprite Loco Lime also comes in a zero-sugar version, too. 

This flavor does sound cool, but we hope that it doesn’t just taste a little one-note. Essentially, you’ve got three different hits of lime here, and there’s a worry that it could all just taste, well, like a lot of lime. We would have loved to have seen something a bit more adventurous hit Wingstop stores, like Sprite Chill Citrus Mango – but we’re not making these decisions, guys. We wish we were. But we’re not, and it hurts.

Wingstop Citrus Mojo

Alongside Wingstop’s new Sprite flavor is, arguably, its main event: Its new wings. Citrus Mojo is its new, citrus-forward option, with its chicken hit with a combination of citrus and herbal notes (with a heady dose of garlic for good measure) that feels ideal for hotter weather. “At Wingstop, pushing the boundaries of flavor is in our DNA,” said Wingstop’s chief brand officer, Donnie Upshaw, in a press release. “Citrus Mojo brings a bright, refreshing profile into our flavor lineup while delivering the boldness our fans expect. It’s a vibrant flavor that gives you that feeling of an escape, wherever you are, perfectly suited for spring and summer.” We love feelings of escape, we love vibrant flavor, and we love spring and summer, so hey — we might be the target audience for this one. If it sticks the landing, that is.

When Can I Find These Two New Options?

Right now! Wingstops nationwide began serving Citrus Mojo wings and Sprite Loco Lime yesterday, April 7. You can order them in-store, through the app, or on the Wingstop website. Importantly, these new menu items likely won’t be around for long: Wingstop has said that they’ll only be available for a limited time, and we can’t see them staying on the menu for long past summer.
