My Favorite Ice Cream Brand Just Dropped a Beer-Flavored “Pint”

Was anyone going to tell me my all-time favorite ice cream brand made a beer flavor? And you call yourselves my friends?? Somehow I missed the memo when they released it for the first time last year, and I don’t have the emotional intelligence to blame myself for that. So I’m blaming you. Yes, you. How dare you.

Van Leeuwen and Guinness teamed up (again) to release Guinness-flavored ice cream. I have three words: Come to mama. 

This little “pint” (haha… get it) is officially called “Lovely Day for a Guinness” ice cream, because Van Leeuwen is cute like that. It blends roasted Guinness stout into their rich French-style ice cream and folds in big chocolate chunks to complement that malty flavor. 

This ice cream first launched last year as a limited-time scoop shop exclusive at Van Leeuwen, where it sold out fast. Fans have been begging for its return ever since… and now it’s going nationwide. Good job, fans. Ask and you shall receive. 

Where can I find it? 

Tomorrow, you can find it inside my freezer. Otherwise, you can find it at Whole Foods starting this month while supplies last. “While supplies last” always sounds very ominous to me, so if you’re even a little bit curious, I wouldn’t wait around. 

This isn’t Van Leeuwen’s first foray into strange flavors, by the way. They made some really weird ones a couple years ago, a few of which we rated pretty highly, like their Dill Pickle Ice Cream (yep) and Kettle Corn ice cream. Our favorite of the bunch was Caramel Sticky Bun, which we would simply love to see return to stores. Apparently we were a little alone in our love for that flavor, though—a lot of people reviewed it poorly online. I assume that’s why it never came back. But don’t listen to the haters, Van Leeuwen. We’d love to see this one get another shot! In the meantime, I’ll be trying your Guinness pint with an actual pint of Guinness, because I have free will and intend to use it to the best of my ability. Toodles!
