KFC Is Challenging Fans with a Spicy Burger That Even Has a Habanero Bun 

Will our love of spice never cease? The appetite for ever-spicier portions of chicken is seemingly insatiable, and wherever you turn, fast food chains are either revitalizing or adding to their hot chicken choices. In the last couple of weeks, Wendy’s has given its spicy chicken sandwich a makeover, with a new marinade that (we hope) delivers more flavor, while McDonald’s has been testing new McCrispy chicken strip options, with some of them aiming for way more of a kick.

Now, KFC has raised the bar with its new Daredevil Zinger menu, which it promises is very spicy indeed – if you want it to be, that is. US customers, though, might be disappointed to hear that this is a UK exclusive. For now, at least. Here’s what we know.

New Daredevil Zinger Menu

KFC described its new Daredevil Zinger menu as a “full-on spice challenge” in its press release, and we can see what it’s going for with it. The main attraction here is the new Daredevil Zinger Burger, which contains an already-fairly-spicy Zinger fillet, as well as cheese, sliced jalapenos, fresh iceberg lettuce, and burger sauce. 

Where the spice challenge aspect comes in, though, is that you pick your own heat level for it, Hot Ones-style. Said heat levels start all the way down at sweet chilli, and go all the way up to Sriracha Firecracker (although by the sounds of things, customers only have access to three spice levels – so the options aren’t that wide-ranging). Oh, and if that wasn’t enough heat for you, the burger comes in a habanero bun.

The Daredevil Zinger Burger costs £6.99 on its own, or it can be upgraded to a Daredevil Zinger Burger Meal for £8.49 or a Daredevil Box Meal for £10.49. UK customers can also try KFC’s new Daredevil Loaded Fries, which tops its fries with popcorn chicken and sliced jalapeños, and a one-two punch of sweet chilli and Zinger Ranch sauce. What we’d really like is to coat that popcorn chicken in some of that Sriracha Firecracker flavoring, but hey, that might remain a pipe dream.

What Else Has KFC Been Up To?

We’re glad you asked! Because there’s been a lot going on. Staying in the UK for a second, KFC recently launched its new Pickle Mania menu (it’s got a real thing for bespoke menus at the moment, huh?), with a bunch of items containing – yes, you guessed it – pickles. Including a Pickle Pepsi Max. Yup.

In the US, meanwhile, it’s been pretty busy bringing back old items. KFC has just revived its Snacker burger for a whole new (and returning) audience, revamping its bun and toppings. Its Twister wrap has also made its way back to its stores, all the way from the ‘90s. Like we said: busy time.
