Bubly, that flavored seltzer brand that rose to fame thanks to an ad campaign featuring Michale Bublé, is making booze now. And it’s for Mother’s Day. Yes, Bubly knows that your mom has been topping off her rosé with seltzer, so they went ahead and canned their own spritzers.
Available in two flavors—Rosé Strawberry Peach and Blackberry Lemon—these new Bubly Wine Refreshers are made with rosé, sparkling water, and “natural fruit flavors.” Each can comes in at 4.5% ABV (about the same as a light beer) and 100 calories. You can get them in single-flavor packs and in mixed packs.
But are they any good? I (a mom) cracked both flavors of Bubly’s new canned wine cocktails at my desk to find out.

New Bubly Wine Refresher!
- Bubly Wine Refresher Rosé Strawberry Peach
-
Pros: This really does taste like a mix of rosé and sparkling water. It’s surprisingly dry—I really was expecting a lot of sweet flavors. And it’s very wine-forward, with more peach flavor than strawberry. If you’re looking for a real canned wine spritzer that tastes like you simply poured sparkling water into a glass of rosé, then I think you’re really going to like this refreshing, chuggable canned cocktail.
Cons: When I first cracked open the can, there was a distinct smell of parmesan. I don’t know why, but it was undeniable. I made my colleague Gwynedd Stuart taste it and she agreed. It’s pretty easy to ignore, though. Also, if you were hoping for a super fruity, super peachy drink, this isn’t it.

- Bubly Wine Refresher Blackberry Lemon
-
Pros: To me, it mostly just tastes like Blackberry Lemon sparkling Bubly sparkling water (which doesn’t exist but should). There’s not a ton of wine flavor to speak of. It’s definitely more of a hard seltzer experience than a wine spritzer. And I’m betting a lot of folks would be into that on a hot, hot day.
Cons: While I only tasted a hint of wine, Gwynedd thought the whole thing tasted like wine that had been sitting out for a bit too long. We didn’t have a third colleague nearby to try it, so you’ll have to be the tie breaker. Let us know what you think in the comments.

About the Author
Hi! I’m the editor-in-chief of Sporked. I will never turn down a fresh-shucked oyster but I’ll also leap at whatever new product Reese’s releases and I love a Tostitos Hint of Lime, even if there is no actual lime in the ingredients.
Why you should trust me: I have been writing about food and beverages for well over a decade and am an avid at-home cook and snacker. I began my career writing about fine dining and recipes, moved into cocktails and spirits, and now I talk about groceries. If you can eat it or drink it, I’ve probably written about it.
What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s dried okra. Appleton Farms prosciutto from Aldi. Some sort of Trader Joe’s cheese (I’m into the aged gouda at the moment). Frozen waffles (usually the Eggo Cinnamon Toast Minis). Spindrift water (loving the Cosmopolitan right now).
Favorite ranking: Smoked salmon. Imagine me as Scrooge McDuck but instead of coins I’m diving into a vault of slippery smoked salmon slices. Pure joy. I also found some real steals in that taste test!
Least favorite ranking: Canned oysters. I had such high hopes for this but it quickly became a chore. The kitchen smelled like an uncleaned aquarium.
