Food makes people passionate. And trust me, I get it. When a dish or a product I love disappears from a menu or a supermarket, it’s a big deal for me. And I’m very glad to see that I’m not alone in that feeling, if the response to the disappearance of Trader Joe’s Lemon Flavored Mini Sheet Cake was anything to go by. When this frankly beloved Trader Joe’s item didn’t appear as it normally would in March, it’s no understatement in the slightest to say that people weren’t happy, to the point where they were saying that they’d refuse to set foot through its doors again if it didn’t return. Now that’s passion.

Well, Trader Joe’s clearly heeded those warnings, because now, its Lemon Flavored Mini Sheet Cake is back in stores. Here’s how it all shook out.
It Was All Looking A Little Scary There For A Second…
Trader Joe’s Lemon Flavored Mini Sheet Cake is one of its ever-popular sheet cake products, and arguably, one of the most beloved. It usually turns up in TJ’s stores around mid-March, right in time for Easter. This year, though, it did not. Its absence was conspicuous. And people weren’t happy.
Thus, the threats began. “If I don’t see the lemon sheet cake in stores by the end of the month, joe is dead to me,” said one Redditor, in a menacing message that simultaneously reminded us that we’re not actually sure who the Joe in Trader Joe’s is. Another person stated, “Joe’s days are numbered. I’m with you. Lemon sheet cake or riot,” while further people weighed in to say that it’s the best they make. It was a tense time over in the /traderjoes Subreddit.
…But We Got There
However, it turns out that Trader Joe’s was just playing its cards close to its chest (or it had a supply issue) – because a couple of weeks later, here we are, heralding the re-arrival of the Lemon Flavored Mini Sheet Cake! Another Redditor posted the good news of its return a few days ago, and the fans were a-rejoicin’. “The moment I’ve been waiting for! I saw on Instagram yesterday and screamed to my husband in the other room,” said one person in the post – just one of many (and we really do mean many) who were celebrating its return.
This mini sheet cake is likely still seasonal, though, and we wouldn’t bet on it sticking around for too long. And if you miss this one? There’ll likely be another around the corner. A couple of months ago, Trader Joe’s released a new coconut sheet cake, indicating that its days of experimenting with flavors in sheet form are not over yet.
