The New Cheez-It Flavor Sounds Like Junk Food Heaven and I’m Drooling

Cheez-It is kicking off World Cup season early with not one, but two new releases: a bold new flavor and a limited-edition shape. (No, it’s not a soccer ball.) This is part of a larger new snack release from Kellanova, who are the official snack partners of the 2026 World Cup. I wish I had an official snack partner of 2026. Any takers? No? Noooobody? (Put your hand down, Khloud. After that last protein popcorn flavor, you have work to do to get back in my good graces.)

The new flavor: Cheez-It Chili Cheese Dog

I can see my future and it’s bright. In it, I’m crumbling Chili Cheese Dog Cheez-Its incestuously over my chili cheese dog. That’s free will, people.

According to Cheez-It, this flavor blends a rich cheesiness with chili heat and the savory-smoky taste of a hot dog. Where, pray tell, was this during 4/20? Think of the sales you could have had, Cheez-It… 

Edit: I’m literally coming back to this article to remind everyone that Chili Cheese Fritos, the best Fritos flavor of all time, exist. I’m kinda mad at myself for forgetting about them on 4/20 (why do I always forget about Fritos), because they are the perfect munchies. You have some high expectations to live up to, Cheez-Its. I hope you’ve taken this flavor seriously. 

The new shape: Cheez-It Original Flags & Stars

Okay, so this is a little less exciting, but aren’t you glad I told you about the brand new flavor first so you didn’t have to scroll further down? I’m nice like that. 

Basically, OG Cheez-Its are getting a temporary makeover, stamping their traditional squares with patriotic flags and stars. (Here’s the box, if you want to look.) As a texture gal, I’m still interested to see if these will have the same satisfaction factor as regular Cheez-Its. 

When do these new Cheez-Its come out? 

My local Target already has them, but the official nationwide roll out to most major grocery stores hits early May. And keep an eye on Sporked for our taste-test reviews of these new Cheez-Its, coming soon!
