Cracker Barrel’s grocery section should not be underestimated. We know that most people are going here to get a good old-fashioned meal, but on the way out of the restaurant-slash-store, you can pick up everything from some of the best boxed mac and cheese around, to Retro Sours, to nostalgic wafer candies in gorgeous shades of pastel. Oh, and you can get chips, too. Chips that are a little bit different. Chips that taste like a campfire.

Well, kinda—that’s if the name of Cracker Barrel’s new Campfire Kettle Chips is anything to go by. What’s the lowdown on these chips? We’ve got it all.

What are Cracker Barrel’s Campfire Kettle Chips?

Cracker Barrel’s Campfire Kettle Chips, which can be found on its website and in stores, are one of its latest additions to its snack line. Cracker Barrel promises that the chips “deliver bold, hearty flavor with that classic kettle-cooked crunch. They’re a cozy, shareable snack that brings campfire comfort to any moment.”

What does a campfire chip taste like?

Now, when they say “campfire comfort,” what exactly do they mean? Are they smoky? Are they woody? Do they taste like a s’more? The answer is, apparently, a touch of the first flavor mentioned there, a bit of spice, and an abundant note of pepperiness. This apparently conjures up a campfire feel—and we assume that it comes from the campfire seasoning that was a key part of the dishes in its Campfire Menu that came out last year, and which is also available online. Among the ingredients listed in the seasoning are onion, red pepper, paprika, garlic, sugar, and red bell peppers, so you can expect some notes of those in here too.

What other campfire snacks is Cracker Barrel selling?

Currently, in Cracker Barrel’s snack selection, the Campfire Kettle Chips are the only chip that it’s sellin’. However, these are not the only campfire-themed items it’s putting out. It also has a s’mores drizzled popcorn in its snack selection, which combines kettle corn with chocolate and graham cracker pieces, and which frankly sounds deeelightful. This didn’t make our recent list of the s’mores snacks we want to try, but we still wouldn’t pass them up. We know that these aren’t exactly campfire-inspired, but we also like the look of its French Burnt Peanuts, which are coated in sugar. Hey, burnt…fire…campfire…you see how we got there, right?

If you want these chips, though, you should snap them up now, as Cracker Barrel does like to rotate its snacks fairly regularly. You have been warned, good people.
