AMC Just Revealed Their Space Jam Popcorn Bucket

To whoever it is over at AMC who keeps coming up with its new popcorn bucket ideas: We’re a big fan of your work. The movie theater chain has been on a roll this year with its limited-edition popcorn receptacles, released in honor of new and returning releases: Its purse-shaped popcorn bucket, brought out in honor of The Devil Wears Prada 2, was the talk of the town, and its Shrek-themed bucket (which is shaped like the ogre’s toilet) is a bit of good old-fashioned fun. And you know what we love? Fun. Popcorn-flavored fun.

Clearly AMC knows that, as it’s just revealed its newest popcorn bucket – this time to mark a one-day-only re-release of Space Jam. Let’s check it out.

Shooting Hoops With Your Popcorn Kernels

AMC’s Space Jam-themed popcorn bucket is being released for the iconic film’s 30th anniversary. Doesn’t that make you feel old? We know, it’s tough. The bucket will be available for one day only (May 20), and only while supplies last – and as AMC doesn’t mention that it’s an online exclusive, we assume, as per the FAQ section on its website, that you’ll have to head down and buy it in person. It does mention additional fees for online orders, but a cursory poke around the AMC website hasn’t revealed how to buy them just yet. 

As for the popcorn bucket itself, AMC is dubbing this one its Game Time Popcorn Collectible, and it comes in the shape of one of those little basketball machine thingies that you get in arcades. You know, where they have a basketball hoop at the end, and a cage on each side? Yeah. Those. Instead of a ramp or a section to catch the ball, though, the gulf between each side of the cage is filled with popcorn. And, if you want, you can throw your kernels through the hoop at the end. It’s a lot of fun, although we wouldn’t recommend doing it while you’re watching the movie. The person in front of you won’t appreciate the back of their head being pelted with popcorn. 

Every Basketball Player Needs A Drink…

They do, don’t they? And AMC has delivered on that front, too. Along with its Game Time Popcorn Collectible, it’s also releasing a limited-edition Collectible Basketball Cup. As you can probably imagine, it’s shaped like a basketball (it has a straw, too, so you don’t have to try and stop it from dribbling – hehe, get it? – down the sides), and a purchase of it includes a large drink. The Game Time Popcorn Collectible, meanwhile, includes a large popcorn. 

Space Jam fans should mark May 20 in their calendars now, guys – and while you’re at it, grab AMC’s new mystery flavor and recreate the experience at home. It’s only polite.
