And it comes with it’s own baking pan, too!

If you’ve never tried Detroit-style pizza, it’s a rectangular deep-dish pie with a lighter, almost fluffy, center and overflowing cheese that gives it crispy edges. The sauce is spooned on top—often in lines known as “racing stripes”—and the whole thing is cooked in a unique deep steel pan. (The original Detroit-style pizzas were cooked in steel trays that were designed to be used as drip pans in auto factories, way back in the 1940s.)
Detroit-style pizzas have been growing in popularity over the last couple years—we even put together a list of our favorite frozen versions way back in 2023. And now, Trader Joe’s has jumped into the mix with a brand new frozen, ready-to-bake version hitting stores now.
What’s on the Trader Joe’s Detroit-Style Pizza?
TJ’s Detroit Style Uncured Pepperoni Pizza boasts a garlic tomato sauce, uncured pepperoni and a blend of Parmesan, Romano, and mozzarella cheeses. The tricky thing about making a great Detroit-style pizza is making sure that the cheese melts all the way to the edge of the pan, and Trader Joe’s has addressed that in a surprising way: by including a pan with the pie so it’s already seasoned, prepared and ready to toss in the oven.
It’s already hitting Trader Joe’s now, and selling for $7.99.
