Dunkin’s spending a lot of time in refresher land at the moment. So far this year, it’s gone big on its refreshers, releasing a bunch of new flavors in its summer menu and just this week launching powdered drink mix versions of four of its popular options. And it’s not just variety it’s going for – it’s also size. We’ve just found out that Dunkin’ will be dropping 48-oz refresher buckets, and for the first time, these will be available around the country.

You’d better put this one in your diary, though, folks: These buckets drop on one specific day, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. Here’s the deal.
Dunkin’ Refresher Buckets: Now That’s What We Call Refreshing
News of Dunkin’s more widely available refresher buckets came courtesy of @markie_devo and follows a test period a couple of months back, which we previously reported on. The concept is simple: Instead of ordering a small refresher, you can order a really big refresher. Three pounds of refresher, to be exact, which comes in an absolutely enormous bucket. If you want, you can also grab an iced coffee in the same format. We personally recommend you share it, but hey, it’s up to you.
These buckets were previously only available in select stores across New Hampshire and Massachusetts, but that original test period seems to have been a success – well, enough of a success for Dunkin’ to roll this one out at more of its stores. That said, you don’t have long to get them.
Yeah, Tell Us The Details!
Okaaaay. Dunkin’s refresher buckets will be available on May 22 and over Memorial Day weekend. The catch, though, is that this is an “only while supplies last” deal. Once a store runs out of the buckets, they’ll be gone – and there’s no indication that Dunkin’ is making its buckets a permanent part of their menu. So, if you really want one, you’ll have to get in line fairly early.
We don’t have an indication of the price just yet, but as the previous refresher buckets were around $7 to $10, we would expect that these would cost a similar amount. Bear in mind, too, that you can’t just buy the bucket with no drink, in case you wanted it as a collectible – the bucket comes with the drink purchase.
And How Do People Feel?
Well, in typical fashion, Dunkin’ customers are a mix of excited, quizzical, and vaguely sardonic about the whole thing. “But is it refillable?” asked a customer on Reddit, while others questioned the potential wastefulness of it all, what with the huge amounts of plastic that Dunkin’ will be working through for this one. Others asked, very appropriately, how they could find out if their local Dunkin’ is participating.
Sadly, we think that you’ll likely have to drive over or call directly to check on that one. This does look to be pretty widespread, though – so come May 22, you may well be in luck.
