Starbucks merch is always a pretty big deal for its customers (hey, what can we say? The people love merch), and this week, we’re hearing a lot about it. Just yesterday we were discussing the chain’s new summer merch drop, which includes tumblers, totes, picnic blankets, and keychains. Now, we’re hearing rumblings that there might be a return of one of its biggest pieces of merch yet to the US, following news that it’s launching in Korea.

What are we talking about, though? We’re talking about the Bearista cup. And things could get a little chaotic. Here’s what we know.
Starbucks’ Bearista Cup: Every Fan’s Must-Have Item
Last year, Starbucks released its Bearista cup, and people promptly went wild. This glass cup, which is shaped like a bear and is complete with a little beanie (that also acts as the lid) and a straw in the top, was the talk of the town when it arrived in stores – and honestly, we’re putting that lightly. People literally camped outside Starbucks locations to get their hands on this cup, which cost $29.95, and Starbucks employees discussed people calling their stores endlessly to check whether they were in stock. Honestly, we don’t think we’d ever go so far as to sleep outside for a cup, but hey – some people would.
Now, we would imagine that those same employees are sweating, with the prospect that the Bearista cup might be back. So far, though, we should say that this is only a prospect – in the US, at least. As per @snackolator, the Bearista cup is arriving in the chain’s Korean stores, where it will come in two different shades of pink, and there’s no US drop announced just yet. However, it’s not unlikely that it could happen.
And How Do People Feel?
Well, as you might suspect, there’s a combination of nerves, excitement, and fear. The fear mainly came from people who we suspect are Starbucks workers over on @snackolator’s post. “please god no free me i don’t wanna deal with this again,” said one person in the comment section. Others questioned why it’s only Korean stores that get the Bearista cups – and we suspect that might not be the case forever, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
Another person, though, pointed out an inherent problem with the cup itself. “It’s cute, but since it’s hard to wash, I don’t want it,” they said. And you know what? That’s a fair point. We like our merch to be both cool-looking and practical, and this one kinda has one and not the other. We might be in the minority there, though, judging by the former response to these things.
