Brach's Crunchy Chewy Jelly Beans Are Set To Be Huge

Are we seeing the dawn of a new texture revolution in the candy world? We’re not 100% sure, but if we had to put money on it, we’d say that there’s a bit of a trend forming here. Unexpected texture combinations are nothing new in Candyland, but recently we’ve seen much more of a push by candy and snack manufacturers to give customers something out of the ordinary. The release of Nerds Juicy Gummy Clusters at the end of the year, which amped up the classic gummy cluster formula, felt like proof of this – and then the recent news of new Hershey’s Creme Bars and Sour Patch Kids Chews seemed like confirmation.

Now, we’ve got even more reason to believe that mixed textures are now everything. Brach’s new Crunchy Chewy Jelly Beans are on the way, and they’ve just been recognised with an award at the Sweets & Snacks Expo.

Brach’s Crunchy Chewy Jelly Beans: The Revolution Is Here

These new Easter jelly beans, made by Ferrara, debuted at this year’s Expo held in Las Vegas – which is a key event for sweets & snacks producers to showcase their upcoming products, and is a good marker of upcoming trends. Brach’s Crunchy Chewy Jelly Beans take the classic jelly bean formula and amp it up even more. They still have that juicy center, but that’s surrounded by a crunchy shell, which is notably thicker and crispier than the standard sugar coating normal beans have.

It seems like this combination has been a winner for Ferrara, quite literally in fact: At the Expo, Brach’s Crunchy Chewy Jelly Beans were awarded the Most Innovative New Product award, in the Seasonal Category. “This year’s recognition of Brach’s Crunchy Chewy Jelly Beans reflects the magic that can happen when you combine a holiday classic with new texture and flavor experiences that delight consumers,” said Ferrara’s Vice President of Seasonal Brands, Matt Esclante, in a press release.

Why Does This Award Matter?

Well, because it’s a good benchmark for what’s to come, and what other candy producers might be doing in the future. The Most Innovative New Product Awards, as it says on its website, “give the industry a first look at the future, recognizing products that spark excitement on shelves and drive growth in the marketplace.” As such, it’s a reliable barometer of upcoming trends, or else trends that are currently building.

And When Can I Try These Amazing New Jelly Beans?

Well, we’re afraid to tell you that we’re almost a year off from them arriving. Brach’s Crunchy Chewy Jelly Beans won’t be here until next Easter (hey, it’s an Easter candy, so what do we expect?), so we have almost a year to wait. More than enough time to build up some anticipation, right?
