Every year Uber likes to treat us with an overview of their lost and found for the year. This year actually marks the 10th anniversary of the practice. Now naturally, the list is topped with an unfathomable number of phones that were left behind. Then you have a handful of other expected items (headphones, purses, etc). The reason we like to tune in is for what’s hidden in between the folds of all that mundane stuff. The weird and wacky foods that were left behind in Ubers this past year.

I appreciate what Uber’s done for us with the list. They could have just given us the most common items that were left behind. No, instead they chose to give us the wackiest. That makes my job a lot easier so I’m certainly all for the shift! Get ready because the list is quite the doozy. We’ll debrief on the other side.

I just want to answer everyone’s question right away. Yes, I was the one who left behind 420 donuts in my Uber. I’m so sorry! It was a hectic day and I picked them up on my way home from the office. My goof registered immediately when I unlocked my front door and didn’t have a donut to soothe me as I wound down for the day. My bad!
Other highlights include 70 tiramisu cakes, an entire wedding cake, 50 avocados (rolled out of a grocery bag or a snack for the road?) and a full Thanksgiving meal. Wowie! For those of you leaving behind your tiramisu I have one question: why do you not respect such a blessed dessert?? You should be guarding that with your life! Heck, you should be checking your pockets for your tiramisu more than your phones when you’re hopping out of the car.
As this also marked the 10 year anniversary of Uber’s roundup, they also highlighted the most unique items that were left behind over the years. The notable foods that graced the list were a live lobster in 2017, a salmon head (literally) in 2019, and 500 grams of caviar in 2022. I just wish I was that lucky Uber driver in 2022. Maybe they got to keep it all!
