If you’ve been hanging onto an old soccer jersey for years, convinced it might come in handy someday, rejoice: that day has finally arrived.

On June 11, after 3PM local time, anyone who wears a soccer jersey into a participating Chipotle restaurant in the U.S., Canada, or U.K. can score a buy-one-get-one free entrée. That’s it. No promo codes. No app-exclusive offers. Just show up dressed for matchday. As far as BOGO deals go, it’s refreshingly straightforward.

Wear A Jersey, Get A Burrito

Chipotle is calling the promotion its first-ever Matchday BOGO, launching in celebration of this summer’s biggest international soccer tournament. The concept couldn’t be much simpler: wear a soccer jersey, buy an entrée, get another one free. Considering soccer fans rarely need an excuse to wear their jerseys in the first place, this feels like one of the easier restaurant promotions to participate in.

It also continues a trend of brands leaning into soccer fandom as the sport’s popularity grows across North America―and preparing for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ that we’re all talking about right now. Some companies sponsor teams. Some launch themed menu items. Chipotle decided to turn matchday outfits into currency.

Because of course they did.

Chipotle is also releasing a limited-edition jersey inspired by global soccer culture and streetwear―just 53 will be available, a nod to the 53 ingredients used across Chipotle’s menu. The front features “Real Chipotle,” a nod to iconic clubs that use “Real” in their names, while the back features the number 53.

You can’t buy it. Chipotle Rewards members in the U.S. can exchange 10 points for a chance to win one between June 10 and June 24, making it considerably harder to get than the free burrito―but a lot more interesting to own.

Your Closet Is Already Doing the Work

Most restaurant promotions require at least a little effort. Download an app. Enter a code. Complete a challenge. Convince three friends to sign up for a newsletter. This one just asks whether you own a soccer jersey.  And if you’ve ever bought one for a tournament, a favorite club, or because you convinced yourself you’d start playing soccer more often, there’s a decent chance you’re already qualified.

The Bottom Line

Sports promotions can sometimes feel a little forced, but this one makes a surprising amount of sense.  Soccer fans get a reason to wear their jerseys, Chipotle gets a restaurant full of people dressed for matchday, and everyone gets one more entrée than they planned on. Not bad for a shirt that was already sitting in your closet.
