Arby’s has been moving and shaking recently. In my heart, it’s because they’ve been goofed on for so many years that they’re finally fighting back. In reality, I know they’ve been steadily paving their own way through the fast food wars and doing just fine for themselves. They’re proud people over there at Arby’s headquarters. In alignment with all their continual improvements, they’ve announced a new permanent menu item: the Angus Cheesesteak.

A Brand New Sandwich
Arby’s is really talking up this one, guys. They’re boasting about the Angus Cheesesteak bringing together seasoned, thinly shaved 100% Angus steak and rich melted cheese for a sandwich that’s “irresistible from the very first bite.” Those are powerful words for the restaurant that gets dunked on for having an entire menu built around roast beef. I respect the hustle and I’m excited to see how it pans out.
From the top rope comes thick-cut caramelized onions to add a touch of sweetness and depth, balancing the savory steak and cheese that we have so far. All that’s packed into a sesame seed sub roll which features a lightly crunchy crust and soft inside. Granted, all that’s taken with a grain of salt. That’s what Arby’s is promising, but the fast food environment isn’t exactly conducive of gourmet offerings.
For all the grief I alone have given Arby’s so far in this article alone, I’m willing to hear them out. They’re basing the sandwich around real juicy, tender 100% Angus steak that’s been seasoned then thinly shaved so you get more in each bite. The steaks’ then melted together with white American Cooper cheese, aiming to give a rich creaminess and subtle sharpness to the sandwich that you’d expect a cheesesteak to have.
The Celebrity Collab
Arby’s aims for the new Angus Cheesesteak to offer guests a higher-quality alternative to the same old burger that other fast food joints serve up. They’re also making things more appealing by giving away 100,000 free Angus cheesesteaks to Arby’s rewards members who make a $10 purchase starting on June 17th. How’s that for getting you sold on the new sandwich?
To further highlight the new offering, and how it’s a way better sell than the overdone burger, Arby’s has teamed up with comedian and singer Meg Stalter. In a digital spot, Meg finds herself moments away from saying “I do” to a burger when she realizes she wants passion and flavor, leading her to run away with Arby’s Angus Cheesesteak. You can view the full spot here. The new Angus cheesesteaks will arrive on menus June 23rd.
