Banana bread has had quite the decade. At various points, it’s been a pandemic hobby, a personality trait, a coffee shop staple, and the answer to the age-old question of what to do with bananas that are two days away from becoming a science experiment. Now, naturally, it’s a candy flavor.

M&M’s has announced Banana Nut Bread Peanut M&M’s―a limited-edition release combining a crunchy peanut with banana bread-flavored milk chocolate, available exclusively at Kroger-owned stores for a limited time.
M&M’s Has Been Spending a Lot of Time at the Bakery
This isn’t M&M’s first foray into full-dessert territory. The brand spent much of early 2026 running a fan-voted Bakery Collection, pitting Peanut Butter Cinnamon Roll, Cherry Chocolate Cupcake, and Lemon Meringue Pie against each other for a permanent spot on shelves. Lemon Meringue Pie won. Banana Nut Bread wasn’t even part of the contest. It just showed up anyway. Which probably is the most M&M’s energy possible.
The Detail Worth Noting
Here’s the thing: banana-flavored candy has existed for decades. What hasn’t existed, apparently, is banana-flavored M&M’s in the United States. International markets got there first―Australia has had banana and banana split varieties for years―but American shoppers are only now getting their first taste. Which is strange when you consider that this is a brand that has already released Pumpkin Pie, Jalapeño Peanut, and White Cheesecake flavors. The bar for “weird” was clearly not the issue.
If anything, banana feels surprisingly overdue. It may not be the most innovative flavor in the world, but it’s certainly less surprising than jalapeño. And yet here we are, skipping straight past banana and landing on banana nut bread. No complaints. Just observations.
Where To Find Them
Banana Nut Bread Peanut M&M’s are available at Kroger-owned stores for a limited time. Whether they’re worth hunting down depends entirely on how you feel about banana bread, M&M’s, and the concept of combining both into one candy shell. M&M’s has already made up its mind. The rest of us are just catching up.
