S’mores have become surprisingly difficult to escape this summer. They’ve shown up in coffee creamers, breakfast foods, cookies, and just about everywhere else. And now Domino’s is bringing the campfire classic to pizza night with its newest dessert: S’mores Lava Cakes.

The limited-time dessert builds on the chain’s popular Chocolate Lava Cakes with a summer twist. Each order comes with three oven-baked graham cracker cakes filled with chocolate chips and a gooey marshmallow-flavored center, finished with a dusting of powdered sugar to recreate the classic combination of chocolate, marshmallow, and graham crackers―no campfire required.
Domino’s Rewards members will get early access beginning July 20th before the dessert rolls out nationwide on July 27th.
The Summer S’mores Trend
Every summer, brands look for flavors that instantly signal warm weather. Watermelon. Peach. Lemonade. S’mores has quietly become one of them.
It’s nostalgic, instantly recognizable, and doesn’t require much explanation. Even people who haven’t roasted a marshmallow in years know exactly what a s’more is supposed to taste like. That makes it one of the easiest seasonal flavors for brands to build around.
Domino’s isn’t the only company leaning into the trend this year. Pillsbury recently brought back its S’mores Cinnamon Rolls after more than a decade, grocery shelves have filled with marshmallow-inspired snacks, and coffee brands keep finding new ways to work the flavor into creamers and seasonal drinks.
Now pizza delivery is getting in on the action, too.
Pizza Chains Want You To Order More Dessert
Pizza chains have become much more serious about dessert. For years, dessert felt like an afterthought―a brownie if you remembered it existed or lava cakes if someone in the group wanted something sweet. Now it’s becoming a bigger part of the order.
That makes sense. If you’re already buying dinner, adding dessert feels like a much easier decision than making another stop somewhere else.
Domino’s already has a fan favorite in its Chocolate Lava Cakes, so instead of reinventing the wheel, it’s giving customers a seasonal version. The chain is even letting customers build their own lava cake flight by mixing the new S’mores Lava Cakes with the original Chocolate Lava Cakes. Dessert flights aren’t just for ice cream anymore.
No Campfire Required
According to Domino’s, the new dessert delivers everything people love about s’mores without having to gather firewood, start a fire, or apply bug spray. I’d say that’s a pretty compelling sales pitch. But will it replace a freshly toasted campfire s’more? Probably not.
But if you’re already ordering pizza on a Friday night, adding warm chocolate, gooey marshmallow, and graham cracker to the end of the meal feels like a pretty easy sell. And judging by how many brands are putting s’mores into everything this summer, Domino’s probably won’t be the last to bring the campfire indoors.
