This Rumored McDonald’s Drink Is Finally Here

Months of rumors and social media chatter were all leading to this moment. McDonald’s is finally adding Red Bull to the menu and it might be one of the chain’s most exciting drink launches in a long time.

Starting August 17th, McDonald’s is rolling out the new Red Bull Dragonberry Energizer. It was first released internationally, but now U.S. fans have a chance to see what all the hype is about.

Meet McDonald’s New Dragonberry Energizer

McDonald’s calls the Dragonberry Energizer “the perfect pick-me-up” and it’s easy to see why. It combines the classic taste of Red Bull with fruity blue raspberry flavor, then finishes it off with pieces of freeze-dried dragon fruit for a fun pop of color and texture.

The drink contains 80 milligrams of caffeine, which is about the same amount found in a cup of instant coffee. It basically gives customers a quick boost without reaching for a traditional coffee drink.

The Dragonberry Energizer also shows that McDonald’s is putting more attention on specialty drinks, as there’s also the Red Bull Peach Boost Energiser.

Fans Are Already Talking About It

This launch didn’t exactly come out of nowhere. In fact, we talked about the rumored McDonald’s Red Bull collab at the beginning of July. Social media users are already sharing early photos and videos, and talking about the new drink before the official release date.

One TikTok user said some restaurants were already getting a head start. In her words, “It starts August 17th but some McDonald’s already got them. My location will start selling them tomorrow. I would suggest asking your location if they are starting early. It’s so delicious!”

So if August 17th feels too far away, it may be worth checking with the nearest McDonald’s. Some locations appear to be serving the drink a little early.

Another commenter shared a helpful tip before anyone heads to the drive-thru. “Just so people know, it’s ONLY available in a medium and you CANNOT change anything about it. No exceptions.” So, don’t expect to order a large or ask for custom changes. 

Could Be A Hit

Colorful Refreshers, flavored lemonades, dirty sodas, and energy drinks have become some of the hottest menu items in fast food. Adding Red Bull gives McDonald’s another reason for customers to stop by, especially when an afternoon energy boost sounds better than another cup of coffee.

The Dragonberry Energizer has already created plenty of buzz before its official debut. Just the colors alone makes you stop to take a second look. And if the online excitement is any clue, don’t be surprised if this bright blue drink becomes one of the chain’s biggest drink launches of the year.
