We tend to want a lot from our beverages these days. Like, yeah, maybe a bit too much. There’s the bright and colorful thing. There’s the liquid sugar thing. There’s the protein thing. And now there’s the larger category: “functional nutrition,” which is basically an aggressive rebranding of pre-existing vitamin and electrolyte drinks. (At this point, I’d be more curious to see what dysfunctional nutrition tastes like.)

And what better way to up the functional nutrition brand even more? Collabs. And we have good news. 7UP and A&W Root Beer are joining the permanent GHOST Energy roster.

Yes, GHOST Flavor Collabs Are Spooky Good

GHOST is no stranger to shredding flavor collaborations. Before any of us realized we weren’t just thirsty but also deeply nostalgic, GHOST was partnering up with everyone from the good folks at Warheads, Swedish Fish, Bubblicious, Welch’s Grape Juice (yep), and Sour Patch Kids. (They even joined forces with Lucky Charms and Cinnamon Toast Crunch to bring our childhood favorites to the protein-injected cereal space.)

But what’s fun about GHOST collaborations isn’t just the spot-on choices they seem to make for new flavor collabs―it’s that GHOST seems to get a lot of their flavors pretty close to the mark. When GHOST first released its 7UP collab, online responses and reviews were generally good. Even Reddit (mostly) agreed it was refreshing, useful, and didn’t taste like “electric limeade.” And according to online chatter, 7UP should show up (in GHOST form, so to speak) by Spring 2027.

Should GHOST Maybe Ghost the Whole Soda Thing?

Sooner to come: GHOST’s A&W Root Beer flavor energy drink, slated to possibly hit store shelves as soon as this month. There’s also a not illogical rumor that GHOST is about to come out with a Dr Pepper flavor (not illogical because Keurig Dr Pepper owns the GHOST brand―also, this Facebook superfan appears to think so).

All of which, again, considering GHOST’s success with flavor collaborations, and its transparency about what’s in the can, is good news. In fact, the only apparent objection fans of GHOST’s soda collaborations is: why? (As in, why more soda.) The basic idea: if you want to drink 7UP, A&W, partake of the good Dr, you can already do that. Like, right now. (And, the argument goes, do we really need those beverages plus functional caffeine blend etc.?) GHOST fans seem a bit more interested in the brand doing its flavor wizardry on stuff they can’t already drink―and if that means more Swedish fish-flavored things I can bring to the gym without embarrassment, I’d say that’s feedback worth considering.

She's unapologetically against macaroni salad and believes Sour Patch Kids are an acceptable substitute for cherry tomatoes in a salad.
