The chicken sandwich wars have been going on for years. The giants have long since staked their claim with fans who think certain restaurants have the best. But that doesn’t mean every brand has been content to just let the status quo be. Plenty of places are still tweaking and perfecting their own chicken sandwiches in the bid to be the best.

A&W: Not Just Root Beer
And this brand is no different. A&W, famous for their root beer, has just thrown their hat into the ring of the chicken sandwich wars by introducing 3 new crispy chicken sandwiches to their menus: crispy, deluxe, and Nashville hot. The crispy is a standard crispy chicken fillet with mayo and pickles. The deluxe adds tomato and lettuce. And the Nashville hot adds a little spice to your sandwich. Now the Nashville hot is only available for a limited time, but the other two will be permanent menu additions.
Betsy Schmandt, CEO and President of A&W Restaurants, said, “We know chicken sandwich loyalties run deep, but we believe one bite will win fans over. It’s that good. We’re confident that once you try it, you’ll want to declare your loyalty to A&W.” Well, I certainly love Betsy’s confidence. A&W has been working on their chicken sandwich for several years now, so I would hope that they managed to make a good one.
Plus A BOGO Deal
The pictures make it look good, but we all know that the food we get doesn’t always look like the pictures. So, this will have to be a try-it-to-believe-it. But a new sandwich isn’t all they’re offering. To encourage people to come try their new chicken sandwich, they’re offering a limited period of BOGO chicken sandwiches. From August 17th to the 23rd, you can get any one of the three options and get another one for free.
And because it’s not truly the chicken wars without something a little strange happening on the internet too. A&W has set up a website AWAllegiance where fans can declare A&W their favorite chicken sandwich. Doing so will have their Instagram handle added to the A&W Hall of Heroes digital display.
