As a Midwesterner, I take Culver’s very seriously. In fact, one of the best moments of my life was going to the largest Culver’s in existence. Unfortunately, that also meant I was in Wisconsin so it’s a win/lose kinda situation. I kid. Mainly because Wisconsin gave us Culver’s so I can’t disparage them too much. With that being said, I care deeply about what you should get at Culver’s so let me share my insight.

Start With A ButterBurger
If you listen to nothing else I say, pay attention to this one. Get the ButterBurger! It’s their signature dish. It’s iconic. Truthfully, it’s not the entree I get every time but I honestly admit to my faults. This burger’s made true to name by the buttered (and toasted) bun that they’re served on. The result is a juicy, deliciously dripping burger that’s full of flavor.
Don’t Skip The Curds
I’ve gone to bat for the cheese curds at Culver’s before. While they’re certainly not the perfect form a cheese curd can have (those are obviously found at the Minnesota State Fair), they’re still worth your time. And money. They are a premium side after all, so you’re going to have to pay to upgrade to those suckers.
Check Out The Flavor Of The Day
Culver’s is known for their frozen custard. So you’ve got to get it in some form. I’m partial to the Concrete Mixer (Culver’s version of a Blizzard). The trick that not many people know is to get the Flavor of the Day as the base of your Concrete Mixer.
The Flavor of the Day is, as the name would suggest, a flavor of premixed up custard that’s unique to every single store. Back in my day (and I don’t know if this is still the case) my local store would put out a flier at the beginning of the month with the upcoming Flavor of the Days so you could plan ahead. By picking the Flavor of the Day as your Concrete Mixer base, enjoy the flavors as they come or add in two candy mixins on top of all that flavor for free! What a steal.
A Kids’ Meal Is The True Secret
If you walked into Culver’s and could only order one thing on the menu, it’s this. Well, it’s actually four things in one. The Culver’s kids’ meal is the recipe for the perfect taster of everything that Culver’s has to offer.
You can start with a ButterBurger, Culver’s grilled cheese (a Reddit sleeper pick), or the chicken tenders (my personal favorite). Then add in your side of fries or cheese curds (or a few other picks) and a drink. The best part is that you get a coupon for a free scoop of Culver’s frozen custard that you can use to check out the Flavor of the Day. It’s the perfect recipe for success!
