A double cheeseburger for less than five bucks sounds like a pretty sweet deal. On August 11th, Dave & Buster’s, rolled out its new Eat & Play Combo, giving guests the chance to add a full entrée for only $4.99 when they buy a Power Card.

The $4.99 Burger Has A Big Catch

The new Eat & Play Combo gives guests a simple choice: pick a Power Card, then add a qualifying entrée for $4.99.

Dave & Buster’s says qualifying Power Cards start at $10, although the company’s current offer page also shows different Power Card options and pricing depending on the location. That means the $4.99 entrée is an add-on rather than the total price of the meal-and-game experience.

So if you spend $25 on a Power Card for 125 Game Chips plus the $4.99 entrée, you arrive at a subtotal of $29.99 before tax.

That is the big catch behind the attention-grabbing $4.99 price, as advertised. Nobody is walking into Dave & Buster’s, handing over five bucks and walking out with a double cheeseburger. The Power Card has to be purchased, too.

Still, for anyone already planning to play games, the deal adds some serious food value to the visit.

It’s Not Just Double Cheeseburger That’s On The Menu

The Dave’s Double Cheeseburger is one of six main entrée choices included in the $4.99 offer. Boneless Wings, Fish & Chips, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Classic Goldfingers, and Parmesan Garlic Chicken Caesar Salad are also part of the menu. And that gives the deal a little something for different appetites.

Guests can also make certain substitutions or upgrades for an additional charge.

There’s An Unlimited Play Upgrade, Too

Guests who want to turn a quick arcade visit into an all-day gaming marathon can upgrade to Unlimited Game Play.

Dave & Buster’s currently lists the Unlimited Game Play option at $59.99, with an eligible entrée included in that promotional price. The unlimited gameplay is valid on the day of purchase until the location closes.

But keep in mind that Unlimited Game Play does not cover purple-swipe games such as VR, crane games, pushers, dance games, and merchandising games. It also does not cover certain orange- and blue-swipe amusements, including Human Crane and Social Bays.

And there is one more thing to remember: drinks are not included in the $4.99 entrée offer. They have to be purchased separately.

So, Is The $4.99 Cheeseburger Worth It?

The Power Card purchase is required, so the double cheeseburger cannot be ordered on its own for five bucks. For someone already heading to Dave & Buster’s to play games, though, the deal makes a lot more sense.

A Power Card is already part of the outing and adding a full entrée for $4.99 can make the total experience feel like a much better bargain.

Dave & Buster’s is basically giving arcade fans a new excuse to settle the question: dinner first or games first? With this combo, the answer can be both.
