Collaborations between movies and chip brands are nothing new; they happen all the time. Just a few months ago, in fact, we saw Takis team up with the Spider-Man franchise to celebrate the release of Spidey’s/Tom Holland’s new cinema experience. Part and parcel in the food world. What’s slightly rarer, though, is for snack names to team up with movie production companies, which tend to have slightly less name recognition than the films they create.

That’s not the case this time, though. Cheetos is collaborating with a company that’s become one of the biggest names in the horror movie world, and it’s an appropriately Halloween-themed flavor.
Cheetos x Blumhouse Productions Sweet Heat Phantom Puffs
This spooky season, Cheetos and Blumhouse Productions are joining forces to release the former’s new Sweet Heat Phantom Puffs. According to @markie_devo, this new flavor is going to break new ground for the snack brand (and for Blumhouse, which is pairing up with a chip line for the first time). Sweet Heat Phantom Puffs’ flavor is partly inspired by the compounds that can be found in Sichuan peppers – you know, the kind that numb your mouth and cause all that tingling. Alongside that, it’s got sweetness, spice, and salty notes.
It’s not the first unusual collaboration Cheetos has done, and nor is it the first collab Blumhouse has been a part of. This year, Cheetos has collaborated with Megan Thee Stallion, Nickelback, and Madison Beer (can you sense a trend with those? Someone at Cheetos really loves music), while Blumhouse Productions has paired with the likes of Coca-Cola and Fanta. As for this Cheeto flavor, it got its first taste test from none other than…NSYNC. Joey Fatone and Lance Bass tried Sweet Heat Phantom Puffs on Delish’s TASTE! Podcast, and noted that there’s a distinct sweetness and a left-of-center cinnamon note to this snack. Expect the unexpected with this one.
How Can I Get Them?
These Cheetos are, of course, a Halloween release – you can tell that from the packaging instantly (and the decision to pair with a horror movie production company, of course) – and so they’ll be available in the lead-up to the holiday. They’ll drop on August 31 and will be available at retailers nationwide and on TikTok Shop, where they’ll be sold in a three-pack bundle. We’re pleased to see that it’s getting a dual release here, and that it’s not just an internet exclusive.
