Every McAlister’s Deal Coming This Spud-tember

McAlister’s Deli has decided September is a good time to remind everyone that a baked potato does, in fact, make a pretty good meal.

The chain is turning September into “Spud-tember” for National Potato Month, dedicating the month to its famously oversized Giant Spuds. There’s a new limited-time potato on the menu, plus a deal for McAlister’s Rewards members that gives you another Spud next month.

So if you’ve been looking for an excuse to order a baked potato that may be the size of your head, this one’s for you.

There’s A New Spud For September

The limited-time addition is the Spicy Green Chili Aioli Pork Spud, which starts with one of McAlister’s signature baked potatoes and gets topped with pork and spicy green chili aioli.

The aioli brings green chili flavor and some heat to the potato, giving the Spud lineup a different direction from the usual loaded baked potato situation.

Rather than being a small side of potatoes masquerading as lunch, McAlister’s has built its Giant Spuds around the idea that the potato is the meal, baking them until tender, fluffing them by hand, and piling on toppings.

The chain has been serving Spuds since 1989, so it’s been committed to this particular interpretation of the baked potato for a while.

You Can Get Another Spud Next Month

McAlister’s is also giving Rewards members a reason to come back after September. If you purchase a Spud during September, you’ll receive a free Spud reward to redeem in October.

So technically, September’s potato can lead to October’s potato.

There are definitely worse loyalty program rewards.

The reward is available to McAlister’s Rewards members, so you’ll need to be signed up to take advantage of it. But if you’re already someone who orders the chain’s Giant Spuds, getting another one next month isn’t really a difficult incentive.

McAlister’s Really Likes Its Potatoes

The Spud-tember promotion isn’t just an excuse to add one seasonal topping. McAlister’s has made its Giant Spuds one of the more recognizable parts of its menu, with the chain describing them as one of its signature offerings.

The potatoes are baked until tender, then hand fluffed before they’re loaded up with toppings. And because the whole point is that the potato is big enough to function as the main event, there are plenty of ways to customize it depending on what you’re in the mood for.

This month’s new Spicy Green Chili Aioli Pork version is just the latest addition.

Spud-tember Runs All Month

The Spicy Green Chili Aioli Pork Spud is available throughout September, giving you the full month to try the limited-time version.

And if you buy a Spud during September as a McAlister’s Rewards member, you’ll get the free Spud reward for October.

McAlister’s is essentially asking you to spend September eating giant baked potatoes and then rewarding you for doing it again in October. At least they’re committed to the theme.
