C’mon. C’mooooon. We have a high tolerance for body and cosmetics products that smell like food, but this year, our limit has well and truly been tested. We have seen, and I’m gonna take a deep, controlled breath here, pistachio Vaseline, Dole Whip body wash, and Pepsi body wash hit shelves in 2026 – and all of them have the slight whiff of novelty about them, as well as the whiff of food that you can’t actually eat. Because, y’know, it’s not ACTUALLY FOOD.

Will Mountain Dew soap be the product that finally causes us to turn our back on food-scented cosmetics, though? Probably not; something tells me there are more oddities to come. For now, though, let’s talk about these new items.

Mountain Dew x Duke Cannon

Mountain Dew has teamed up with Duke Cannon to create a pair of body care products, both of which are scented with that inimitable Mountain Dew smell. And by inimitable, we mean sweet, citrusy, cloying, overwhelming, not suited for body wash at all…take your pick. Anyway. The two brands have released a Mountain Dew Body Wash and a Mountain Dew Soap Bar. They’ve started showing up at certain Walmarts, so keep your eyes peeled, should you want to try them yourself.

As it to be entirely expected, people have responded to the news of these new Mtn Dew body care products with a combination of interest, enjoyment, incredulity, and disdain. Over on @markie_devo’s post about the body wash and soap, there are a few choice comments, one of which said that it smelt like paint, and another which stated, “Hide this from the gamers.” “Is this real? Please tell me this isn’t real,” said another. It is real. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

A World Of Collabs

Anyone who’s surprised by the fact that Mountain Dew would collaborate on a pair of products like this probably shouldn’t be. The drinks brand has previous experience with strange tie-ins, as well as endless merch drops bearing its logo and coloring. Chalk this one up as the latest in a long line of vaguely novelty items designed to get people’s attention. But look. Some people may actually really like this stuff! And if so, more power to them. We can also see the scent vision here: If you’re willing to look past the obvious marketing intention, citrus and body wash are natural bedfellows. Just don’t be surprised if someone asks you if you have an open can of Mountain Dew in your back pocket if you do buy this thing.
