I’m at my wit’s end. And why? Because every day I wake up, and I find out that there’s been another cosmetic product released that smells like food. Now look, don’t get me wrong: If we’re talking body wash or shampoo that smells like apples or strawberries, that feels fine to me. Trader Joe’s salted mango lip balm? I can take it. Pistachio Donut Vaseline

News of the existence of Pistachio Donut Vaseline reached my desk by way of @candyhunting, who, as always, was one of the first around to spot this item in the wild. This product is, essentially, Vaseline’s standard lip therapy jelly (you know, the kind that comes in those little pots, with Vitamin E added) but in a Pistachio Donut scent. It’s weird. It’s unexpected. And it’s now available at Target.

As you might expect, people responded to the fact that Pistachio Donut Vaseline is now a thing with a cocked eyebrow and a healthy round of “why do we need this” comments on @candyhunting’s post. One person said that they thought it was AI, such is the strangeness of this combination of product and scent (and, we guess, flavor? Maybe? It is a lip balm, so it probably has a touch of it in there…).

And if this is your thing, no judgement at all! A fair few people in @candyhunting’s comments said that they were looking forward to trying it. So, different strokes for different folks, and all that. I just feel like…pistachio in a lip balm…might not quite be for me.

None of those, though, are working with trending flavors, and pistachio’s been of the moment for well over a year now, and showing no signs of going away.
