Mason Dixie Foods has launched a frozen Chicken Biscuit Sandwich at Costco and the new breakfast find looks awfully familiar to anyone who has ever ordered a Chick-fil-A Chicken Biscuit. It has crispy chicken, a buttery buttermilk biscuit, and not much else getting in the way.

Costco Has A New Chicken Biscuit Sandwich

Mason Dixie Foods announced the new sandwich on July 21st, with the product rolling out exclusively at Costco locations in the Northeast, Bay Area, and San Diego. It comes in an eight-count box with a suggested retail price of $15.99.

Inside each sandwich is a crispy piece of chicken breast seasoned with Mason Dixie’s house spice blend and one of the brand’s classic buttermilk biscuits.

Chick-fil-A’s Chicken Biscuit has been a longtime breakfast favorite built around the same basic combination. Mason Dixie’s version gives shoppers a way to get that general chicken-and-biscuit taste from the freezer at home.

Ready In Three

A chicken biscuit sounds like something that should require a trip through the drive-thru. Mason Dixie has a different plan.

The company says its frozen sandwich can be ready in less than three minutes. That makes it an easy option for mornings when there is barely enough time to make coffee, let alone wait in a breakfast line. The sandwiches are also fully cooked, so your job is basically heating one up and eating it.

Mason Dixie is also giving the sandwich a little more substance than just “something tasty before work.” So each Chicken Biscuit Sandwich contains 11 grams of protein, according to the company. It also says the product uses fresh ingredients, real dairy, all-butter biscuits, and contains no antibiotics and no preservatives.

The Costco Price Is Pretty Tempting

The suggested retail price is $15.99 for eight sandwiches. That works out to about $1.99 per sandwich. So an entire box costs less than buying eight restaurant chicken biscuits.

That doesn’t mean the frozen version will taste exactly like a fresh Chick-fil-A sandwich. A restaurant-made biscuit and a frozen biscuit sandwich are two very different things. Still, the price makes Mason Dixie’s version an interesting option for anyone who regularly craves chicken biscuits.

It Could Be The Sunday Chicken Biscuit Backup

Chick-fil-A restaurants are closed on Sundays, so fans who wake up craving a Chicken Biscuit that day are out of luck. A frozen chicken biscuit, however, does not care what day it is. So Mason Dixie’s new sandwich is a pretty convenient backup for the weekend.

Whether it can truly replace a fresh Chick-fil-A Chicken Biscuit is another question. Fresh from a restaurant will always have its fans. But a frozen breakfast that costs around $2 per sandwich, and is ready in less than three minutes, will certainly find its crowd.
