Many parts of this recent Olivia Rodrigo x Taco Bell collaboration are a surprise for me. I guess I’m not the leading expert on Olivia Rodrigo but I do consider myself a fan so I was a little surprised she 1) wanted to work with Taco Bell and 2) that Taco Bell would put out a Pink Drink of their own à la Starbucks. Yet here we are. This limited edition drink is only available at Taco Bell’s Live Más Café locations which I happen to live by (thanks, LA) so I stopped by to give it a try.

Pretty Pink Baja Blast

Pros: Olivia’s pink drink is actually the Pretty Pink Baja Blast, which is actually a “tropical lime flavored Mountain Dew Baja Blast with a refreshing pink lemonade twist.” The drink is said to be inspired by Olivia’s favorite flavors and colors―which I can appreciate because I also enjoy pink and pink lemonade.

In practice, it works! Which isn’t a huge surprise considering it’s just lime and lemon. Though I will say while typing that, I did get horror flashbacks to the 7UP lime lemon fiasco I faced a few weeks ago. Thankfully I’m not mad at this version. You’re getting a lot of the same elements here as you would get in a normal Baja Blast. The citrus flavors go very well with the cuisine that Taco Bell is serving up. I just have one little hangup that we have to talk about.

Cons: Be warned. This is sweet!! It’s borderline too sweet but I think the salty nature of Taco Bell’s food is the saving grace for Olivia’s Pink Drink. You can take a quick sip to wash down your salty food or a bite of food after a big sip for the reverse effect.

Some of the sugar overload is probably on me though considering I don’t drink pop very often and I ended up getting a large Pretty Pink Baja Blast to really get enough time to understand it. That’s my bad. Olivia must be a stronger soul than I if she signed off on such a drink. Or maybe she just took the brand money and let them push out anything they wanted! We’ll never quite know.

Actually I have one last negative for Olivia’s Pretty Pink Baja Blast. I do think it’s a little lame that something like this couldn’t get a wider release. Taco Bell’s Live Más Cafés aren’t in every neighborhood so it’s hard to say it’s worth going out of your way for this drink. If you happen to live near one, sure, go try it out. If not, I think you’ll be alright just getting a regular Baja Blast with your Crunchwrap Supreme.
