Fall flavors are in full swing and we’ve been keeping you up to date with all the new items. That includes our recent reporting on Graeter’s new fall flavors that were coming. We got a little taste of them.

We love Graeter’s here at Sporked. We’ve ranked their flavors and highlighted drops. What makes Graeter’s so special? They use a special “French press” method for their ice cream making. This results in denser, more creamy ice cream. And you can feel the difference in the texture. Graeter’s is just a dream to eat.

So with high hopes, we had to try Graeter’s fall flavors. This year, the fan-favorite Harvest Pumpkin is returning, along with a new flavor of Apple Strudel. Let’s get into it.

Harvest Pumpkin

Now, I can definitely see why this was a favorite and why it warranted a return. The pint container claims that it’s pumpkin pie without the crust. I was a little skeptical. If you’re a pumpkin fan, you know how hit or miss pumpkin flavors can be. So, it’s only right to be a little skeptical when something claims to be just as good as a pumpkin pie. But oh, man. They were so right. The ice cream was almost exactly like a pumpkin pie filling―just with ice cream instead. I didn’t even really miss the pie crust. It was that good. They found the perfect balance between pumpkin and spices and it was all loaded into a creamy bite. The worst part? When I ate it all and didn’t have any more to eat. That was the biggest tragedy. Yeah, it was that good.

Apple Strudel

Now for the new guy. This sounded very delightful. I love a good apple pie and I find apple is really underutilized in fall (despite how often apple picking, orchards, and cider are seen in fall). For treats, it just gets overlooked for pumpkin. But boy, did Graeter’s do this humble little fruit justice. It was like apple pie à la mode, but if it was all mixed into the ice cream. While I loved the flavor, the texture wasn’t always perfect. I found that there were a few apple pieces that were larger than I would’ve preferred. I think a finer dice on them would’ve had them more well balanced in bites. But if my only complaint is about the size of the apple pieces, you know that the flavor’s still great. The strudel pieces and icing made for a crunch and bursts of flavor that complimented the sweet ice cream and tart apples. It was some serious bliss.
