Sonny’s BBQ has decided that maple belongs on burnt ends.

The Southern BBQ chain is rolling out its fall menu on Sept. 14th, and the big new addition is Maple BBQ Pork Burnt Ends: chopped pork collar that’s smoked, then caramelized in Maple BBQ sauce.

It’s a pretty straightforward combination of barbecue and fall flavors, which is probably why it works. Maple sauce on burnt ends sounds like something that should have existed already.

And that’s not all Sonny’s is bringing back. The fall menu has returning favorites, new sandwiches and sides, and enough seasonal drinks to make it clear that summer is officially over.

Here’s what’s coming.

The Maple BBQ Burnt Ends

The burnt ends are the main attraction, but Sonny’s is actually rolling out two seasonal sauces this year: the return of the Maple BBQ and a new Buffalo BBQ.

Maple BBQ shows up on the Pork Burnt Ends and the new Maple BBQ Turkey Club, which comes with smoked turkey, chipotle candied bacon, Swiss, lettuce, and tomato on garlic bread.

So if you like your barbecue a little sweeter, you’ve got options.

The Buffalo BBQ goes in the opposite direction, with a sweet-and-tangy flavor and a kick.

The Pecan Pie Egg Rolls Are Back

Sonny’s is also bringing back a couple of fall favorites.

The Cheese Curds are back, made with Tillamook cheddar curds, tossed in Sonny’s dry rub, and served with Smokin’ Ranch.

More importantly, the Pecan Pie Egg Rolls are back after debuting last fall. They’re crispy egg rolls stuffed with pecan pie, tossed in cinnamon sugar, and served with whipped cream. It’s dessert in an egg roll. I don’t really have anything else to add to that. What more do you need?

There’s A Lot More Food

The rest of the fall menu includes a Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese, a Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese with onion straws and Sweet BBQ, and Skillet Potatoes topped with crushed garlic bread croutons.

Because if you’re already putting pulled pork in things, there’s no reason to stop at one.

Sonny’s is also adding three seasonal drinks: a Root Beer Float made with root beer, spiced brown sugar syrup, and creamer; Winterberry Lemonade; and Brown Sugar Spiced Tea.

The Sonny’s Originals are back through December, too. Pork 3 Ways is $16.99, while the Sonny’s Sampler is $19.99.

When Can You Get It?

The fall menu arrives Sept. 14th and will be available for a limited time.

Sonny’s BBQ is concentrated in the Southeast, so if you don’t live near one of its restaurants, the maple burnt ends are going to be a little difficult to track down.

For everyone else, you’ve got until the seasonal menu disappears to decide whether maple belongs on your barbecue. I’m going to say yes.
