We have a lot of time for Culver’s. The Midwestern chain has been having a stellar run over the last few years, and we’ve been bearing witness all the way – and in 2026 it’s really upped its game, with its pub burgers and fried pickles (both of which we’ve tried), its new concrete mixers, and more along the way. It’s been busy, and we respect it (even if we haven’t loved every new menu item it’s put out, but hey, you can’t win ‘em all).

Sometimes, though, you don’t need new, fancy items to try. Sometimes, you just want to make what you already like from a restaurant even better. We’ve already covered what you should order the first time you go to Culver’s; now, we’re talking about how you can improve things the next time you go.
Get Your Sandwich On Sourdough Bread
Culver’s has a Sourdough Melt on its menu, which means that it has sourdough sitting in every restaurant – which ALSO means that, in theory, said sourdough can be applied to any other burger you like. Customers have taken this fact and run with it over the last few years, constantly recommending to Culver’s newbies that they order their ButterBurgers on sourdough instead of a regular bun.
Doing this not only helps the burger hold together so much better, but it adds more crunch, more flavor, more everything. As with other hacks, though, you can’t put this hack through on the Culver’s app or online; you have to ask for it in person.
DIY Poutine
The relative absence of poutine everywhere but Canada is a crying shame: That combo of fries, cheese curds, and gravy is hard to beat. However, the good news is that Culver’s carries all the ingredients you need to make a poutine, and if you’re willing to do a bit of pouring yourself (and honestly, if you’re not, there’s no helping ya), you can enjoy a DIY version in no time.
All you have to do is ask for a portion of fries with fried cheese curds on top (or on the side), and then ask for a side or two of gravy, depending on your drenching preferences. Assemble, pour, and enjoy. Standard poutine uses unbreaded cheese curds instead of the breaded kind Culver’s sells, so there’s a little more crunch going on here than some people might like – but hey, it’s not a bad imitation.
Order Your Fries – And Your Fish Sandwiches – Extra Crispy
One of the most common issues people cite at Culver’s is the sogginess of its fries – so, to get around this, just ask for them extra crispy. The difference this simple request makes, according to its customers, is pretty wild: An extra minute or two in the fryer turns Culver’s fries into some of the best around, instead of an irritant on the side of your plate.
The same thing can be done with its fish sandwiches to help avoid any sogginess there, too. In fact, the same thing can technically be done with anything that passes through Culver’s fryers. Want crispier cheese curds? Onion rings? Shrimp? There’s no harm in asking.
