In the last few weeks, football season has well and truly kicked off – and those food brands aren’t missing a trick. We’ve been seeing football-themed deals and offers arriving thick and fast, with the likes of Publix, Wingstop, and McDonald’s reviving old favorites, building collabs, and throwing out new flavors for the hungry masses to enjoy on game day. Let it never be said that there aren’t options for football-related grub, because there’s a lot going on right now.

It’s a busy old time at Dairy Queen, too. DQ has recently announced its own back-to-football deal, and this one’s pretty decent. I just hope you’re in a dipping mood.

Dairy Queen Chicken Strip Basket Deal

Dairy Queen has announced its new Chicken Strip Basket Deal in honor of football season, as well as a new MVP Dip Lineup. The Chicken Strip Basket Deal gives customers four Original or FlameThrower Chicken Strips for $6.99, which come with fries, a drink, and your choice of dip from DQ’s new selection. The chain has two fresh dips on offer here: its new Strip Dip, a creamy, tangy, black pepper-inflected affair, and its new Ghost Pepper Dip, which promises “fiery, bold, smoky pepper heat” (so sayeth its press release on the matter). You can also go for its house-made Hidden Valley Ranch, if you prefer.

Dips have been big in fast food this year: KFC has been focusing pretty heavily on them, and they’re a canny way for chains to offer way more choice, in a kind of modular fashion, without overwhelming their customers with a load of options (they’re also cost-effective, which helps). So far, the response to these new dips has been a little mixed: DQ’s new Strip Dip is the clear winner, with a lot of people comparing it to Raising Cane’s own signature sauce, while the Ghost Pepper Dip has been called a little underpowered. For my money, the real selling point here is the price: $6.99 may not be super cheap, but it’s not bad for what feels like a fairly substantial meal.

Get It Now!

Dairy Queen’s Chicken Strip Basket Deal is on sale for a limited time, so get yourself down there before it’s too late. The deal comes off the back of a typically brisk time for the chain: A few months ago, it announced that it was expanding to Puerto Rico, and it’s spent the summer churning out Lemonade Coolers (and did we like them? Reader, we did not). ‘Twas ever thus.
