We love a comeback – and we love a comeback that people genuinely want. Not to point fingers or give any specific examples, but sometimes, when a fast food chain brings back a menu item with the promise of it being a returning fan favorite, the news is received with a vague sense of “did anyone actually want this?” People want the classics. They want known quantities. And who can blame them?

That’s exactly what IHOP’s delivering with the return of its most-requested item on social media. Its Stuffed French Toast is back. Cue the choirs singing!
IHOP Stuffed French Toast
Yesterday, IHOP announced that it was bringing back Stuffed French Toast, not just as a solo item but as a category of its own. As a quick primer on the history of this item, for all of you non-stuffed-toastheads out there: IHOP first debuted its Stuffed French Toast in 2003 as a limited-time offering before it quickly became permanent. It stuck around before being removed in 2020 as part of a slimming-down effort by the restaurant, and while there were a few variations on the form since then, it’s remained elusive – and fondly remembered.
But now it’s back! According to FSR, IHOP dug extensively through customer comments and feedback to not only determine that they wanted the Stuffed French Toast back, but also what they wanted by way of improvements and tweaks. From September 14, customers can order Stuffed French Toast on its own, as a combo, or as part of a breakfast. IHOP has given its flavor profile a rejig, and it now comes in new Strawberry Vanilla and Blueberry Vanilla varieties, each topped with either glazed strawberries or blueberries and vanilla sauce.
Fancy A Collab?
While IHOP’s Stuffed French Toast collaborates with the sausages and eggs on your plate, the restaurant is collaborating with the girl group of the moment. IHOP’s return of its Stuffed French Toast is soundtracked by Katseye, whose song “Pinky Up” is featured in its ad campaign. This is probably no surprise to anyone with a passing knowledge of the group, who are well-known by this point for teaming up with food brands like Hershey and Erewhon.
IHOP has had its ear to the ground elsewhere, too, and not just in terms of which musical artists are making waves online. A couple of months ago, it hopped on the Dubai chocolate trend (which really should be done by now, but boy, it keeps on going!). How long until we get hot honey pancakes? It might only be a matter of time.
