The season of comfort food is upon us. (Okay, if we had to admit, these days it seems like “comfort food season” could reasonably be extended to the whole 365 days.) But as it gets colder and the days get shorter, our bodies (and souls) do kind of crave crunchier, meatier, and just generally cozier foods. The nice thing about Sam’s Club comfort foods, especially: you can buy your comfort foods in tasty, generally affordable quantity.

Of course, everyone’s opinion of what constitutes a “comfort food” is different, so we went a bit broad on the spectrum, with some savory and even a couple sweet―and since we’re talking Sam’s Club, there’s plenty more to shop for (who doesn’t want a little extra comfort?)

Wendy’s Canned Chili with Beans – $22

I’m sorry, yes, this is officially a Wendy’s product but in bulk? It belongs to Sam. And say what you might about Wendy’s, well, steady decline in quality, but their chili is still pretty reliably gut-warmingly good. And if you buy via Sam’s Club, you can get six 15-ounce single serving sizes. That feeds a few snackish football fans, or a couple people on a very, very cold and boring night. Either way it’s a win.

Member’s Mark Chicken Alfredo with Pasta – $15

Really, you could put Alfredo sauce on an overdue bill and the world would suddenly feel a lot more manageable. But then add some nice big hunks of hearty, filling, protein-rich chicken and a carby pillow of fusilli and you’ve got a ready-made comfort food dinner for the (literally or metaphorically) coldest of nights. It’s priced by the pound, which makes the average serving on their website just under 4 pounds, meaning it’s family-friendly (or freezable, ‘cause comfort’s needed all season long).

Member’s Mark Stuffed Peppers – $17

To be honest, stuffed peppers don’t necessarily excite me. But when they’re pre-stuffed, and with ingredients like ground beef, Italian red sauce, rice, romano, and mozzarella cheese, it gets a lot easier to get excited. The Member’s Mark portion comes with six to a pack of $17 (approximately), it’s a per-pound basis, but that’s still a good deal (under or around $3 per pepper). And isn’t one of the most comforting things these days saving a bit of money after someone else has done all of the prep work?

Member’s Mark Southern Style Waffle Fries – $7

This might not strike you immediately as “comfort food” but think about it―chuck any amount of this 4lb bag of frozen waffle fries in the oven and in less than 20 minutes you have a giant pile of warm waffle fries. A massive amount of extra crispy-yet-tender waffle fries you can heat up while choosing what to binge watch: comfort on comfort on comfort.

Member’s Mark 8-Count Cinnamon Rolls – $10

We’re getting into breakfast territory―but then again, don’t we tend to need the most comfort as the coffee kicks in and we realize what the day has ahead of us? Maybe it’s because thickly-iced cinnamon rolls remind us of childhood, or maybe it’s because you can do that, slowly-unraveling pull-them-apart thing that’s so satisfying. And while nothing’s better than that childhood version (from scratch or Pillsbury, the memory’s still as sweet), the extra comforting thing about these? They’re ready to deliciously uncurl.

Member’s Mark Macaroni and Cheese – $8

No comfort food list can (or should, legally) be complete without some version of mac n’ cheese. We like this version for several reasons―number one, quantity. Eight dollars is an approximate price (it’s just a bit over $3 per pound), meaning each serving is just a bit more than two and a half pounds. Oh, did we mention the macaroni part, and the cheese part? There’s a blend, of course: parmesan, cheddar, and American, as well as heavy cream, garlic, and spices. Bonus points if you opt to pop some more cheese and/or breadcrumbs on top, it’s all so easy (and comfy).

Member’s Mark Cookie Dough Brownie – $11

The words “cookie,” “dough,” and “brownie” can also technically be spelled “comfort,” “comfort,” and “comfort.” Seriously, I just read that out loud and it feels like I shaved off like, a year of therapy? It’s a nine-count of cookies (for some reason, with a price over ten bucks, our hearts were kind of hoping for a dozen). They’re cookie shaped, but they call themselves brownies―let that mystery be your comfort tonight.
