There may not be a Culver’s within a day’s drive from Los Angeles, but that doesn’t mean I’ve lost my love for the beloved Midwest institution. I’m full of love, and opinions, on the restaurant. Which is great because I’m going to need them for the journey ahead.

Culver’s ButterBurger gets a lot of the spotlight and for valid reasons. They really set themselves apart in the saturated market of fast food burgers. Still, there’s more to explore within the Culver’s menu. If you know what you’re looking for. Which I do. Duh. The real best thing to order at Culver is in fact the Buffalo Chicken Tenders.
Buffalo Chicken Tenders
Yes, I’m serious! The chicken tenders, Buffalo or not, at Culver’s are always worth checking out―even for my fellow adults out there. The chicken tenders taste a lot better when you don’t worry about what someone might think when they see a 32 year old man eating his chicken tendies with his fingers. Because the truth is, no one gives a crap.
Just focus on yourself and the chicken tenders in front of you. Culver’s Buffalo chicken tenders feature whole white meat chicken. They’re each breaded and seasoned with chili peppers, paprika, and black pepper. That warm heat is the perfect pairing for your dipping sauce of choice. Honey mustard is my pick but you can’t go wrong with Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ. You can also choose from Culver’s signature sauce for a real Culver’s experience, or buttermilk ranch or Ken’s bleu cheese for a more classic buffalo ordeal.
Bring On The Custard
A spicy entree makes for the perfect foundation to add a cool frozen custard treat onto. Just imagine the first spoonful of creamy, dense custard coating your mouth as you work your internal temperature back to normal. That’s not even taking into account that most Culver’s are located somewhere where winter rules the weather for half of the year. There’s nothing like walking out into the brisk, winter air after sweating your face off for a bit.
If there’s one takeaway here is that there’s more to Culver’s than their (understandably damn good) ButterBurger. Open your horizons and try something new. Swap out your fries for an order of cheese curds, live spontaneously and get the custard flavor of the day, and don’t forget your order of Buffalo chicken tenders!
