Costco’s food court is always a topic of conversation for many reasons. Sometimes, it’s because people are complaining about it; other times, it’s because people are rushing to give their two cents about a new drop. That’s going to be happening a lot in the coming days and weeks, I feel. Why? Because Costco’s released two items recently. One of them, the Apple Pie Sundae, has pulled away from the pack as the Costco topic du jour – and so far, reviews have been broadly positive, with most people saying that the store’s nailed it with this one.

But wait! Hiding just behind the Apple Pie Sundae is its Mixed Berry Smoothie, and while this drink may not be getting as much fanfare, it’s still worth talking about. So – let’s talk about it. Right now.
Costco Mixed Berry Smoothie
This week, Instagram creator @costcohotfinds, who’s one of the most reliable sources of all things new releases at Costco, revealed that its food court has just dropped a Mixed Berry Smoothie in its food court. Now, whether it’s truly new or not has created a fair bit of stir in @costcohotfinds’ comment section, but in her post, she clarifies that this smoothie is “new and different from the previous berry smoothie and fruit smoothie,” which have been on Costco food court boards, on and off, for years. Apparently, the difference from the previous berry smoothie is in the berries used. This one, she says, has raspberries, while the former berry smoothie was apparently made with blackberries, strawberries, and blueberries (which are also all present here).
What we’re left with, then, is a kind of new and improved smoothie vibe, with each drink containing five servings of fruit. The smoothie packs a refreshing punch, and while it might seem slightly out of place as we plunge headfirst into winter – what with its summery, thirst-quenching vibe and all – it’ll be a nice way to cool off after grabbing all those new holiday arrivals.
Under The Radar
This smoothie’s arrival has been a fairly quiet one, and while Costco never really publicizes its new food court items, it begs the question of how long it’s going to stick around. It may also only be available in certain stores, ahead of a wider release later down the line (which would explain the relative lack of buzz around it). It all remains to be seen, for what’s emerging as a strangely contentious item.
