I think we’ve established that the internet can make just about anything famous. So a cake covered in colorful sprinkles? Sure. Why not? And now that cake has apparently become popular enough to inspire an entire fast-food menu launch.

Smoothie King is getting in on the Dot Cake craze with two new limited-time items: a Dot Cake Protein Smoothie and Dot Cake Protein Toast, both arriving October 27th.
Neither contains actual cake, which feels like an important detail to get out of the way. Instead, Smoothie King has taken the colorful, crunchy bits that made the original dessert famous and added them to a smoothie and a slice of toast.
And because it’s Smoothie King and this is 2026, there’s protein involved. Of course there is.
What’s In Smoothie King’s New Dot Cake Smoothie And Toast?
First, a little background if you’ve somehow managed to avoid the Dot Cake phenomenon.
The dessert became a social media obsession thanks to its colorful sprinkles and satisfying crunch, inspiring people to recreate it at home and even line up to buy the real thing. Don’t get me wrong, I understand the appeal of a good cake. Although I’m not sure I’ve ever liked one enough to stand in a line that stretches around the block.
Smoothie King’s version takes a slightly different approach, using Supernatural Rainbow Nonpareils Sprinkles, which are made without artificial colors.
The Dot Cake Protein Smoothie combines bananas with the chain’s Slim-N-Trim Blend and a generous scattering of rainbow nonpareils. It contains 13 grams of protein, so you’re getting a little more than a pretty drink with sprinkles floating around in it.
What I really want to know is how the texture works. The whole point of Dot Cake seems to be that satisfying crunch, and I can’t help wondering how long those tiny sprinkles will stay crunchy once they’re swimming in a smoothie. I’d probably end up drinking it immediately, purely in the interest of science of course.
Then there’s the Dot Cake Protein Toast, which comes with your choice of chocolate hazelnut or peanut butter spread on multigrain bread, topped with the same rainbow sprinkles. Depending on your choice, it provides at least 11 grams of protein.
This one makes a little more sense to me. Chocolate hazelnut spread and sprinkles on toast sounds like something I would’ve considered a perfectly reasonable breakfast as a child. Actually, I still would. It reminds me of fairy bread, the Australian party staple of buttered bread covered in rainbow sprinkles, only with chocolate hazelnut spread instead of butter. An upgrade, if you ask me.
And if you prefer peanut butter, that’s an option too. Although given that the whole idea is inspired by cake, I’d probably go with the chocolate.
When To Get Your Hands On Them
The Dot Cake Protein Smoothie and Dot Cake Protein Toast will be available at participating Smoothie King locations nationwide starting October 27th.
They’re only around for a limited time, and Smoothie King says quantities are limited, so there’s no guarantee they’ll still be available if you leave it too long.
You can order them separately or together, although the chain hasn’t announced prices in its press release.
Of the two, I’d probably try the toast first. Chocolate hazelnut spread, rainbow sprinkles, and a decent amount of protein? I’ve certainly made worse breakfast decisions.
