Christmas is one of those rare times of year when it’s socially acceptable to wear something that would look completely ridiculous any other time of year. You can turn up wearing a sweater with a giant reindeer on it, earrings shaped like Christmas puddings, or a hat with an actual bell attached, and nobody bats an eyelid. Try turning up to a birthday party in March dressed like a tree and people might ask if you’re feeling alright. Do it in December and suddenly you’re the life of the party.

And now, thanks to Little Debbie, you can take things one step further by dressing like a snack cake.
The brand has teamed up with Academy Sports + Outdoors’ Magellan Outdoors for its first-ever holiday apparel collaboration, inspired by its famous Christmas Tree Cakes.
Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes Are Now A Clothing Collection
The limited-time collection includes three men’s styles: a Laguna Madre shirt, Lounge Pants, and a Grotto Falls Crew, all inspired by the familiar Christmas Tree Cake design.
For anyone unfamiliar, these are little tree-shaped cakes covered in white frosting, with red icing stripes and green sprinkles. And somehow, somebody decided they’d make excellent inspiration for a clothing line.
Did someone walk into a meeting holding a box of cakes and announce they’d found the inspiration for the next holiday collection? Did the designers spend an afternoon studying the precise arrangement of the red icing stripes? Was there a heated debate about how many green sprinkles were too many? I’d love to know.
And I really do appreciate the lounge pants. Because if you’re going to dress like a Christmas cake, you should at least be comfortable. I can picture someone spending Christmas morning in the full outfit, sitting on the couch with a coffee and a Christmas Tree Cake, looking like they’ve been sponsored by their own breakfast.
The Little Debbie collaboration is part of Academy’s wider Magellan Outdoors Christmas Market, which also includes festive tumblers, dog shirts, bandanas, and even a truck-shaped dog bed.
When To Get Them
myAcademy Rewards members can shop the collection early through the Academy app until November 6th, ahead of the general release on November 7th.
The clothing is available for a limited time, so if you’ve ever dreamed of looking like a Christmas Tree Cake, this is your opportunity.
I do think there’s something wonderful about a snack cake becoming a fashion icon. We spend so much time worrying about what to wear, whether things match, and whether an outfit is appropriate. And then along comes a little frosted cake with red squiggles on it and suddenly it’s got its own clothing line.
Although I do have one concern. If you show up to Christmas dinner dressed like a Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake, somebody is almost certainly going to make a joke about eating you. And you’ll have nobody to blame but yourself.
