Snacks are a staple really. When you want something to munch on but don’t want a full meal, snacks are there for you. But sometimes, we fall into the same old rut of snacks such as chips, nuts, yogurt, and the like. They’re good and classics. We go to them for a reason. But sometimes, they get a little boring. Well, if you’re feeling like changing your snack time up, we searched the Trader Joe’s shelves for some great snacks you may have glanced over in your quest for snackage.

Savory Rice Crackers

Crackers are a good snack. But you’re probably going for Ritz or Triscuits (and I don’t fault you, they’re good choices). But when you want something a little different, try Trader Joe’s Multiseed with Tamari Soy Sauce rice crackers. These are a savory little taste bomb. And they’re even gluten-free. Now I’ve had some gluten-free crackers that you can definitely tell they are lacking the gluten. These, however, are not like that. They’ve got great snap and seeds which, combined with the soy, make for a salty, extra crunchy bite.

Marinated Artichokes

Now this was the wildest thing I think I found in the realm of snacking. The label specificially states these can be eaten as-is and stand-alone, which is not how I would usually eat artichokes. But hey, if Trader Joe’s says they’re snack worthy, well I’ll give it a try at least. They weren’t terrible. But I think I’d rather just snack on a pickle than these. So these may stay relegated to the salad mix-ins. But I could definitely see if someone wanted a healthier snack going for these. They’re a little more interesting than just crunching on a carrot.

Sour Cream and Onion Rings

Now these may sound like just standard onion ring chips, because who doesn’t love some Funyuns, but there are some key differences here. These are Trader Joe’s branded, made with lentils and rice, and gluten-free. Great for those who can’t have gluten and miss Funyuns. I was a little skeptical because of the lentils (and I love lentils). But I just wasn’t sure how lentils would translate into a crispy onion-like snack. It actually worked really well and now I prefer these over traditional Funyuns.

Sticky Rice and Seaweed Crisps

Now this one is probably a little niche. But as an Asian food and snack lover, I was instantly grabbing these. But I know not everyone is going to see seaweed and think: delicious snack. But you’ve gotta trust me. It’s worth it. It’s so good. These little crisps are crunchy and salty. It’s got a little of the sea brine funk, but it is nothing like getting a mouthful of ocean water. Try them for yourself and thank me later.

Turkish Sesame Bread

Okay, I get it, bread may be getting a little out of snacking range, but I think a ring of bread like this is perfect for snacking. This is not ready-made snacking as it’s frozen. So you’ll have to prepare it first. But once it’s ready, you can just snack away for a few days (if it lasts that long). The crumb on this bread is surprisingly good considering it’s been frozen. And the sesame crust makes for a really good crunch. I grabbed it mostly just out of curiosity but was pleasantly surprised.
