Every now and again, Aldi drops an item you probably wouldn’t expect. The supermarket is renowned for being good for essentials, but it’s not afraid to get a lil’ adventurous with its options: Weeks after it first appeared, I’m still thinking about that cookie butter cheese. If its new beignets are anything to go by, it likes to do that with its baked goods, too. I have to say, I didn’t have these French-origin pastries (which are, of course, particularly popular in New Orleans) appearing in Aldi’s limited-time aisle on my bingo card for 2026, but there we are.

Staunch fans of traditional beignets might be a little surprised by what they get here, though. It might be best to be a little open-minded here. Let me explain.
Aldi Beignets To Go!
Aldi’s new Beignets To Go! have started popping up in stores in the last week or so, and so far, they’ve been winning some seriously strong reviews. Made in France with non-GMO ingredients and costing around $3.99 for a pack of six, each individually wrapped brioche-style beignet is a round of dough with pudding-like chocolate filling in the center. They’d be great as a mid-morning snack or a little treat after lunch, especially if you’re eating on the go.
As an Aldi Find, these beignets might not stick around very long – but if what customers are saying is anything to go by, you should snap them up sharpish. “These are incredibly good. Perfect little size, great dough, quality filling,” said one person on Reddit. Another said, “My husband and I almost ate the whole bag.” Clearly, Aldi’s doing something right here – even if some people are a little confused by the whole thing.
Confused? What Do You Mean?
Well, multiple people have remarked that Aldi’s Beignets To Go! bear very little resemblance to New Orleans-style beignets. There’s no powdered sugar coating, nor is there any crispiness – and Aldi’s version has left some people questioning how authentic it actually is. These look way more like filled donuts – but it is worth remembering that the French word “beignet” translates to “donut” in English, and if you purchased one in France, it’d look pretty similar to this Aldi Find.
Therefore, this one’s all about expectation management. If you’re hoping to get the kind you’d find at Café Du Monde, you’ll probably be disappointed. If you’re happy with a chocolate-stuffed dough that’s clearly very good, and which reminds you of that trip to Paris instead of Louisiana, this is the product for you.
