Everyone’s favorite inflation-fighting drink company has done it again. We’ve got our hands on a brand new juice cocktail from AriZona—exclusive to 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripes’ stores. (You can also pick up a 12-pack on AriZona’s website if you’re a Club ‘Zona member; an annual membership will run you a fitting $99.) Let’s crack open a big can.
I swear I saw this AriZona flavor on shelves last year. What do you mean new?
AriZona’s new Apple Lime Rickey is very visually similar to an AriZona drink that has been in and out of our lives over the last 13 years. For the brand’s 20th anniversary back in 2012, AriZona ran a fan-voted contest to create a new flavor and design. The winning Cherry Lime Rickey debuted exclusively at 7-Eleven for a limited time. That flavor returned to 7-Eleven stores last year as a chain exclusive; in the grand tradition of 12-month exclusivity contracts, both brands collaborated on a new flavor that just launched last month. I don’t blame anyone for confusing the two green-and-red loopy-font cans, to say the least.
- AriZona Apple Lime Rickey Juice Cocktail Review
-
Pros: This AriZona juice cocktail is so limey, it calls cookies “biscuits.” Based on the popular virgin variant of the highball cocktail, this Apple Lime Rickey drink is heavy on the lime without being too tart, which is no small feat. This drink is bright and fruity with a hint of fizziness, calling back to the original cocktail—rare for AriZona.
Cons: The apple flavor is getting absolutely battered by the lime here; AriZona’s Cherry Lime Rickey was definitely better balanced. This is also quite sweet—a departure from the original cocktail, which features little to no sweetener whatsoever. That sweetness isn’t uncommon for AriZona drinks, but the tame flavor profile means that sweetness feels particularly strong. I enjoyed the can I had, but I won’t be going back for another—especially since my sample can of AriZona’s no-longer-fake Rizzler Berry Juice Cocktail arrived at my house mid-review of this drink.
