Hot take: Auntie Anne’s pretzels are best eaten in a mall. I like the novelty of having a go-to shopping snack, you know? Saving those fluffy, buttery, salty twists for a specific activity makes me really savor it. It feels more special. I just love passing the stand in the flurry of a shopping mall and getting lured in by the smell of baked dough. Gosh, the nostalgia hits every time.

That being said, just because I primarily consume Auntie Anne’s pretzels in a mall doesn’t mean I don’t crave their pretzels at inconvenient times. Like when I’m sitting at home in my pajamas and wet hair and actively shuddering at the idea of leaving my couch, let alone my apartment, let alone my neighborhood, to wade through the nearest mall to find a pretzel. No thank you.

Luckily, we have dupe for them that you can keep in your freezer.

The dupe in question… isn’t really a dupe at all. It’s Auntie Anne’s Classic Soft Frozen Pretzels.

Yeah. Consider this, like, a PSA: Auntie Anne’s sells frozen versions of their soft pretzels you can buy at the grocery store, and they’re really good. We’ve tried most (if not all) brands of frozen soft pretzels out there, and Auntie Anne’s ranks in the top three. They are a pretty close one-to-one match to what you’d get at the stand—if anything, they’re a tad less sweet. I actually bought them once to serve a watch party to really get that “movie theater in the mall” experience.

Wait. A movie night with Auntie Anne’s pretzels sounds kinda bomb.

It totally was??? I wish I bought more soft pretzel dips for the one I hosted, though. Hindsight is 20-20, so make sure to check out our lists of the best queso, Dijon mustard, honey mustard, caramel sauce, and ranch if you want to go all out.

Howdy! I’m a Sporked writer based in L.A., and you can find me overstaying my welcome at just about any coffee shop with free wifi, no matter the speed. Sadly, I can never move back to my home state, Florida, because even if the seafood is totally unmatched, there aren’t enough Mediterranean or Korean restaurants to keep me sane.
