I scream, you scream, we all scream because 2025 was a hellish year for so many of us! Luckily, there was ice cream to help make it all better. We tried some really great ice creams, ice cream bars, and ice cream sandwiches this year, but two instantly stood out above the rest.

Graeter's Lemon Meringue Pie

Runner-Up

Graeter’s Lemon Meringue Pie

This was the year that Graeter’s spoiled every other ice cream for us. After tasting (almost) all of Graeter’s flavors, we were sold on their French pot method, which produces dense, ultra-creamy ice cream that cannot be beat. And the best flavor of them all is the Lemon Meringue Pie. It’s marshmallow lemon ice cream (yum) studded with lemon candy bits (yum, yum) and real pieces of tender, buttery pie crust (yum, yum, yum). Our one issue with this pint? It’s not available nationwide. Let’s fix that in 2026.

Butterfinger Ice Cream Bar

Winner

Butterfinger Ice Cream Bar

I’m not kidding when I say this Butterfinger ice cream bar is actually better than a Butterfinger candy bar. Like, they really improved upon an already good thing. The flaky innards are more peanut buttery and flakier than they are in the candy bar. And paired with Butterfinger-flavored ice cream and a thin coating of chocolate? This literally might be the best thing to happen in 2025.

About the Author

Justine Sterling

Hi! I’m the editor-in-chief of Sporked. I will never turn down a fresh-shucked oyster but I’ll also leap at whatever new product Reese’s releases and I love a Tostitos Hint of Lime, even if there is no actual lime in the ingredients. Why you should trust me: I have been writing about food and beverages for well over a decade and am an avid at-home cook and snacker. I began my career writing about fine dining and recipes, moved into cocktails and spirits, and now I talk about groceries. If you can eat it or drink it, I’ve probably written about it. What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s dried okra. Appleton Farms prosciutto from Aldi. Some sort of Trader Joe’s cheese (I’m into the aged gouda at the moment). Frozen waffles (usually the Eggo Cinnamon Toast Minis). Spindrift water (loving the Cosmopolitan right now). Favorite ranking: Smoked salmon. Imagine me as Scrooge McDuck but instead of coins I’m diving into a vault of slippery smoked salmon slices. Pure joy. I also found some real steals in that taste test! Least favorite ranking: Canned oysters. I had such high hopes for this but it quickly became a chore. The kitchen smelled like an uncleaned aquarium.
