We tried a ton of incredible new snacks in 2024—seriously, so many snacks. I mean, we had to call an emergency Sporked team meeting just to reflect on all the different snack options yummy enough to make this list. And thankfully, after much debate (and further snacking), we pinpointed the standouts. These weren’t just good—they were innovative, genre-bending, and snacks we really hope to see immortalized in the Smithsonian one day. (Snacksonian? Hmm, I’ll workshop it.) Let’s take a look at the very best snack of 2024 and the close runner up.

Now, before we get any haters: yes, we consider pudding to be a snack food. If you don’t, well, I’m going to ask you to suspend your disbelief here and let us convince you why this Girl Scouts and Jell-O collab deserves to be our runner-up. In essence, this is a creamy caramel pudding that tastes like warm cooked sugar and butterscotch, topped with crushed, chewy Samoas (an S-tier Girl Scout cookie). The Samoas bring chocolate, textural nuance, and a burst of coconut flavor to every bite. All in all, this snack is truly something special.
We’re going to move past one quick critique here, which is: If Sweet Hawaiian Club Crackers are supposed to taste like Hawaiian rolls, they don’t really accomplish that. But guess what? Art, when studied properly, should be separated from the artist’s intent. And make no mistake—these lightly sweet, buttery crackers are a work of art. They combine what we love most about Club Crackers—their perfect, flaky-but-smooth, soft-but-crunchy texture—with a nuanced, salty-sweet flavor profile that tastes, quite frankly, timeless. Like they should have been made decades ago. Never in our wildest dreams would we expect to crown a humble cracker as our best snack of the year. Honestly, that should say it all. These are that good. (And possibly the missing piece of the best charcuterie board you’ve ever assembled. Just sayin’.)
Howdy! I’m Gwynedd, Sporked’s managing editor. I live in Los Angeles and have access to the best tacos the U.S. has to offer—but I’m a sucker for a crunchy Old El Paso taco night every now and then. I’ve been at Sporked since 2022 and I’m still searching frozen mozzarella sticks that can hold a candle to restaurant sticks.
Why you should trust me: I’ve been a journalist for 20 years (yikes), a consumer of food for 40-plus years, and I’m truly hard pressed to think of foods I don’t like (or that I can’t tolerate at the very least). Oh and one time I cooked my way through Guy Fieri’s cookbook and wrote about the journey through Flavortown.
What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s Original Savory Thins. Fat free plain yogurt (usually Fage or Nancy’s). Honeycrisp apples. Sweet cream coffee creamer for my at-home Americanos. A frozen cauliflower crust pizza and some jarred mushrooms to top it with. Old El Paso Stand ‘N Stuff taco shells and Gardein Ground Be’f, even though I think “be’f” is a nightmarish contraction.
Favorite ranking: Stouffer’s frozen dinners. I don’t own a microwave (I get my cancers the old fashioned way!), so I love taste testing things that I don’t really buy to eat at home.
Least favorite ranking: Soy sauce. Don’t get me wrong, I love soy sauce—but consuming that much sodium in one sitting is probably illegal in some countries. Our frozen enchilada taste test was a close second; the smell of microwaved corn tortillas still haunts me.
