Korean fruit milks are a staple in East Asian markets and convenience stores, and you’ll find Binggrae’s popular banana, melon, and strawberry bevvies among them. Truth be told, I made a lot of people try this, and most didn’t see the appeal. “It’s pure sugar water,” they said. “It’s barely milk,” they said. And yeah, okay, the critiques are valid. But personally, I like how different these little boxes of strawberry milk are, and I completely understand their popularity. The milk is sweet in a way that’s pleasantly bright and fruity. The consistency is thin, but each sip has a softness to it that’s quite addictive. Plus, if you add this to your iced coffee or bitter cold brew, you can make Starbucks-level beverages at home. No, this isn’t for everyone, and it’s certainly not the best strawberry milk of the bunch—but it’s still worth a try, if you ask me.

I really didn’t expect my memory of Nequik Strawberry Milk to hold up. Seriously, I was prepared to look back at my youthful taste buds with strong disdain. But no, this stuff is a gold standard strawberry milk that kids have every right to love and adults should probably take more seriously. It has the perfect consistency: It’s creamy but not too creamy, and each sip ends on a slightly foamy note. And believe it or not, Nesquik Strawberry Milk isn’t too sweet.

I have fond memories of Promised Land’s Eggnog from our most recent eggnog taste test—it’s insanely thick, creamy, and packed with flavor. Luckily, their strawberry milk delivers the same indulgence. The extra-churned, ultra-rich texture and nuanced strawberry flavor make this one dangerously gulpable. If you like your strawberry milk thick, this is hands-down the best brand to buy. If not, keep it moo-ving.

Normally I wouldn’t say this about a product we’re recommending, but Horizon sort of faded into the background during this taste test. It’s classic middle child syndrome—and I mean that as a compliment. This isn’t trying to win your attention with excessive sugar, extra richness, or striking packaging. It’s a classic cartoned strawberry milk, with an emphasis on the milk, because it tastes the most like standard whole milk mixed with mellow strawberries.

Broguiere’s Strawberry Milk might be one of the sweetest strawberry milks we tried, but it also happens to carry the most fresh, farm-to-grocery-cart flavor of the bunch. The consistency leans rich, but it doesn’t ever feel heavy, delivering a smooth, velvety texture that makes every sip taste both indulgent and light. Like I said, though, what really makes this the best of the best strawberry milk is its flavor, which actually captures the essence of wild, finger-staining strawberries fresh off the vine. It’s kind of incredible, really. Kids will love the sweetness, and adults will love the refined, nuanced flavor and fancy glass bottle. That’s a win-win, people.
