This Is What You Should Get At Buc-ee’s, According To Customers

Buc-ee’s gets a lot of love for its food (it gets slightly less love for its customer service, but that’s by the by). A big chunk of that affection goes towards its brisket sandwiches, which customers generally agree are a must-try for your first time there. These sandwiches are the stuff of legend: Slow-cooked, smoked meat, chopped fresh and doused in sweet BBQ sauce, piled into a bun. Simple, but very effective.

But brisket’s far from the only thing on the menu at Buc-ee’s, and veterans of the store know it. So, while it’s a great first-time option, customers are also keen to point other newbies to the chain to some alternative things they should get. And we’ve put them all together here.

Beaver Nuggets

Arguably the second-most popular item on the Buc-ee’s menu, its Beaver Nuggets come up time and time again when people dole out their recommendations. These glazed, puffed cornmeal bites (they’re not made from beaver meat, as some have assumed) are available in a bunch of different flavors, but the classic brown sugar and caramel combo is far and away the favorite. Just make sure you stock up on them.

Pulled Pork Sandwich

Trade chopped meat for pulled meat with Buc-ee’s Pulled Pork Sandwich. With slow-smoked pork mixed with a Carolina-style mustard and vinegar sauce, it’s got a nice balance of smokiness and acidity – but it still has the sweetness you expect from a pulled pork sammie. Customers find it a nice alternative to the brisket, for those days when you can’t stomach any more beef. 

Cuban Sandwich

This one’s a relatively new item on the Buc-ee’s menu, but in the few months it’s been out, it’s won a lot of fans. Buc-ee’s pulled pork is wielded once again here, and combined with sliced ham, melted Swiss cheese, and a dill pickle aioli, it covers all your flavor bases (although it must be said, a couple of people have mentioned that it needs a bit more mustard going on – but if you prefer your sandwiches not to cause sneezing fits, this one might be for you). 

Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter OverBites

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups? Predictable. Buc-ee’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter OverBites? Next level. That’s what customers say, anyway. These mammoth chunks of peanut butter and dark chocolate have gotten rave reviews from customers, who love the tempered chocolate (and the fact that you basically get a hockey puck-sized serving). They’re not for those who don’t have a strong appetite for sweetness — but as far as peanut butter cups go, these are hard to beat.
