Folks, I hope you can forgive me for being a little late to share this news. Absolut Vodka and Sprite have partnered up for a ready-to-drink cocktail in the United Kingdom. Full disclosure, that Absolut/Sprite mashup actually hit shelves in February of 2024. (In my defense, I had just gotten onboarded to Sporked as a writer on the date this was announced.) Luckily, we just got a great excuse to discuss this late news, because a second Absolut & Sprite cocktail has hit the United Kingdom.
What is this Absolut & Sprite drink?
This original canned drink, officially titled “Absolut Vodka & SPRITE,” is exactly what it says on the can: Absolut Vodka and Sprite. Seriously, that’s all it is. Per the press release, this drink is “made with premium vodka, Absolut, and the loved lemon-lime sparkling soft drink, SPRITE.” Two primary ingredients and they’re both written in very big letters on the front of the can—that’s transparency.
What is the new Absolut & Sprite drink?
A watermelon variant of Absolut Vodka & Sprite is hitting British shelves right now. I don’t know about you, but this has me downright peeved. First, the British get canned, alcohol-infused Sprite before America even though we totally beat them in that big fight 250 years ago. Rediculous. Now they’re getting a flavor variant? We don’t even have Watermelon Sprite in Coca-Cola Freestyle machines. That’s it, I’m getting a team together to go throw British tea into the water.
Will Absolut Vodka & Sprite ever come to America?
There’s always a chance. The licensed Jack Daniel’s and Coca-Cola canned cocktails were available exclusively in Mexico before making their way to the States. If Coca-Cola is willing to let their namesake soda dip into the ready-to-drink cocktail space, I would think their second-in-command has a chance too. Here’s hoping the fine people at Absolut Vodka US are listening when I say this: Please make this happen.
