Checkers & Rally’s Now Has $3 Double Sandwiches

With food prices rising and the economy not looking (or feeling) the best these days, most fast food joints are embracing the idea of “premium value,” offering big portions for cheap prices to draw in customers. Checkers and Rally’s has unveiled their version of premium value, and it involves a menu of good-sized burgers for only three bucks a piece.

What’s on Checkers and Rally’s new $3 menu?

They’re offering three double-patty sandwiches, for three dollars a piece. Although, we should add that in some markets (like Los Angeles, boo!), they’re actually $3.49. But that’s still a good price, considering that you’re getting the same amount of meat in a McDonald’s Quarter pounder, which will run you around six or seven bucks.

Honestly, it’s a little too good to be true, which makes me wonder if this is a limited time offer. But they’re not calling it that, so we’re betting/hoping this will stay around for a while.

Oh, and you can upgrade each of these to a combo for three bucks more. The three $3 sandwiches are:

Sourdough Double Melt

This one features two 100% beef hamburger patties with American and cheddar cheese, seasoned grilled onions and mayo on toasted sourdough. I’m a sucker for a good sourdough melt, and those grilled onions sound like a great addition to the recipe.

Cheese Double

Described as “more than a quarter-pound of beef topped with American cheese, pickles, diced red onions, ketchup and mustard.” It looks like a classic cheeseburger, just with a good amount of meat.

Double Spicy Chicken 

If you’re looking for something a little spicy (and very poultry), this one’s got two crispy spicy chicken patties with American cheese, lettuce, and mayo on a bakery-style bun. I’m impressed with the size of these chicken patties, as a lot of chicken sandwich these days seem to be just a chicken finger between two slices of bread. But these look like pretty thick with a nice, spicy coating. I’ll definitely be trying these, too.

Want something larger?

If you’re in the mood for something bigger, they’re also adding two larger size sandwiches to the menu.

Bacon Sourdough Buford

Basically, a version of their regular two-patty Buford burger, but with bacon and on two slices of sourdough bread. It’s available for $7.49.

Bacon Sourdough Clucker

Another $7.49 sandwich, this one’s an all-white chicken patty topped with American and cheddar cheese, dill pickles and two strips of bacon, on sourdough.
