Certain foods are perfect—no modifications needed. Like, the Costco hot dog combo. Perfect, savory, snappy hot dog. Nice crispy soda. Literally, no notes. But Costco shoppers have thoughts about the iconic Chicken Bake. Consensus is that the Chicken Bake you get at the Costco snack bar is better than the Chicken Bake you’ll find in a box in the frozen section, but neither is perfect. That’s why regular Costco shoppers have gotten creative about modifying and fixing it up.

Hey wait, what’s a Costco Chicken Bake?
If you’re not a Costco shopper, this salty goop tube may be a total mystery to you! Basically, a Chicken Bake is like an oversized Hot Pocket. It consists of a bready crust stuffed with white meat chicken, bacon, a bunch of cheeses, and Caesar dressing. Yum, right? Okay, yes, but double yum if you know what to do with it. We took a peek at Reddit and found some clever suggestions for sprucing up the famous Chicken Bake.
Hit up the condiment bar: Costco has its own little selection of condiments, most of which are pretty obviously intended for the hot dog combo. You’ll find pumps with ketchup, two kinds of mustard (you’ll find at least one), and pickle relish. No one’s monitoring this area, so go nuts! People seem to particularly like the way bright, tangy mustard tastes on the chicken bake.
Request extras from the snack bar staff: The Costco snack bar stocks single-serve packets of red pepper flakes to put on their slices of pizza (fyi, Costco’s pizza is REALLY GOOD). Ask for some red pepper flakes to sprinkle on top of your Chicken Bake to spice it up a little (you can also bisect it longways and sprinkle the flakes inside).
Stuff a hot dog inside the Chicken Bake: You knew this was coming, right? Equal parts cursed and brilliant, this is a Costco hack that recently took off on social media. Basically, you cut your chicken bake down the middle, place the dog from your hot dog combo inside, and top it with the cheese from a slice of Costco pizza. What a beaut!
