When is Dairy Queen Free Cone Day?

Dairy Queen’s Free Cone Day is March 19, 2026. As of this writing, that means it’s tomorrow. While some parts of the country are still experiencing temperatures below 75 degrees, we’re getting extreme heat warnings here in SoCal. So the timing, for us, is perfect.

What can you get?

Dairy Queen isn’t quite as generous as Ben & Jerry’s. While B&J offers you a free scoop of any of their available flavors, DQ is giving away free small vanilla cones and free small vanilla cones only. Limited to one cone per person. (Although, if you visit multiple DQ locations, you can probably score multiple free cones. Don’t tell them we told you to do that, though.)

Is that it? Just a free cone?

Actually, no! You can enter Dairy Queen’s Free Cone Day Sweepstakes for a chance to win free cones for a whole year. Download the DQ app, sign into your DQ rewards account, and follow the prompts. The sweepstakes ends on March 19, though, so get on it!

What else should I get at DQ?

If you’re interested in pairing your free cold treat with some hot eats, you can try the new FlameThrower Chicken Strip Basket off the Swicy Menu. It comes with fries, Texas toast, and vanilla soft serve for dipping.

About the Author

Justine Sterling

Hi! I’m the editor-in-chief of Sporked. I will never turn down a fresh-shucked oyster but I’ll also leap at whatever new product Reese’s releases and I love a Tostitos Hint of Lime, even if there is no actual lime in the ingredients. Why you should trust me: I have been writing about food and beverages for well over a decade and am an avid at-home cook and snacker. I began my career writing about fine dining and recipes, moved into cocktails and spirits, and now I talk about groceries. If you can eat it or drink it, I’ve probably written about it. What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s dried okra. Appleton Farms prosciutto from Aldi. Some sort of Trader Joe’s cheese (I’m into the aged gouda at the moment). Frozen waffles (usually the Eggo Cinnamon Toast Minis). Spindrift water (loving the Cosmopolitan right now). Favorite ranking: Smoked salmon. Imagine me as Scrooge McDuck but instead of coins I’m diving into a vault of slippery smoked salmon slices. Pure joy. I also found some real steals in that taste test! Least favorite ranking: Canned oysters. I had such high hopes for this but it quickly became a chore. The kitchen smelled like an uncleaned aquarium.
